I was flipping around the dial tonight and it was truly remarkable. How do so many fools get tv shows? First there was Nancy Grace who couldn't seem stupider if she sat there hitting herself in the head with a rock. After more than 2 weeks of this, she still can't figure out that while she might feel discomfort if she didn't get food or water for an extended period, that doesn't mean Terri Schiavo felt discomfort (although I'm reluctant to suggest that the reason is that Grace has a working brain and Schiavo didn't since all evidence seems to suggest that Grace's brain is seriously damaged too).
And then there was Dennis Miller suggesting that you could never use the word "gracious" to describe Michael Schiavo, as if he was just being irrationally rude to the people who have called him every name in the book, accused him of every sin they could think of, who have chosen to "grieve" publicly while all he wanted to do is grieve privately and who have encouraged a three ring circus that has included threats on his life...yeah he's not "gracious" to those folks.
And finally, there is the cake topper: Judge Anthony Napolitano on Faux, who blamed Terri's death on "the Culture of Death" that began 40 years ago with Roe v. Wade, saying that no one would've allowed someone to starve to death before that...Uh...your judgeship? You do realize that prior to the advances in medicine that have occurred over the last couple of generations, folks "starved" to death all the time.
Oh yeah, one more bonus: Tom Delay saying he never imagined he see the day where, in the USA, a court would order someone "starved" to death...Well, Tom, you ought to take a look at the statutes in most states that give judges authority to direct the removal of medical care, including hydration and nutrition? And did you sleep through the Hugh Finn and Nancy Cruzan cases? What a simpleton.
