5. The doors that...
the original poster is speaking of are painted with gold paint. They are the doors to the Papal apartments and they are locked with a special signet ring by the Vatican City's Secretary of State when a pope dies to seal off any attempt to steal the dead pope's body or burn his papers. Hey, I'm not making this up...remember that some of these traditions are 2,000 years old.

12. Yes, I am sure that the last thing the Vatican is worried about
is telling the MSM that he is dead.

However, the Vatican is now denying that he is dead. They are denying all reports.

On the other hand, my local Cathedral in Seattle has draped the cloth and is ringing the bells. They may well have a communication network between them and the Vatican that we don't know about which would explain why they have started the official mourning bells.

On the other hand, maybe they were watching CNN too!

13. Saw a weird one described on MSGOP last night
The pope is not officially declared dead until the pope's chamberlain calls out his name three times while hitting him on the head with a special hammer. I'm not BSing. It was some guy wearing a black dress so it must be true. If you aren't already I guess getting whacked in the head with a hammer ought to do it.

and started ringing their bells en masse

CNN et all are just awaiting the official word from the Vatican in deference to the Pope.

He is dead though.
