OK. Here it is - the politics and religion mixed topic! What better way to piss off your relatives at Thanksgiving!

Who do you think Bush would nominate as the New Pope?

Here's my vote:

I know he's not Catholic but, them again Wolfowitz is no bank exec either! This guy is the king of putting his unqualified friends into positions of power.

1. Cardinal Ratzinger
He's known to be even more conservative then the neocons.

Even some Catholic Republicans I know think Ratzinger is too conservative.

45. In all seriosuness, i'm sure he's the guy they're pushing for.
And I don't think for a moment that Bush isn't trying to pull some strings somewhere, although it's perhaps unlikely that he'll do himself any good by it. If elected, Ratzinger should keep nice and quiet about immoral wars and the death penalty, just as Jesus and his beloved chosen servant George II would want.

46. I Am Certain That They Have Folks On The Phone Night And Day Lobbying.
I do think this is the most realistic option I have seen yet. I did a little reading. after I saw the name come up. He certainly has the extreme right-wing views that would make him a popular choice.

I'd like to see the Vatican surprise me and vote in a black Pope. I think that may also go a long way on the opposition to condoms in the face of the AIDS epidemic. It would also put a more universal face on the church. I've heard a lot of buff about a Latin pope. I'd like that as well. I just do not think it would help on the Condom front.

The church's current stand is a real demonstration that are more concerned about saving souls than saving lives. That does not strike me as compassionate. On the other hand, that really is nothing new now is it?

11. Actually, the Premise of the O.P. Is Not Far-Fetched at All
Do we think that the power-mad NeoCons would completely ignore a major player position in the scheme of things (think the Godfather)?

On an individual level, yesterday LIMBOsevic was reading off all of the burial and selection procedures after a dead pope. LIMBO frequently jabs at the CLINTONs for referring to how rich they now are, while he himself is one of the new Robber Barons himself, PROUD of his wealth, which is the sign of his SUCCESS. He brags about the luxuries he can enjoy. But as he was reading the stuff for the pope, you could HEAR in his voice how, despite everything he can afford, he cannot have THIS kind of unique material luxury. A conquering HITLER could pillage world treasures. LIMBO was COVETING having THIS LEVEL of luxury for himself.

when he was the spokesperson who announced the theft taking place. In lie form, of course. The coalition of Murdoch-Ellis (the Bush cousin) and the cabal and all the other MSM.

Bennett was right there with Barb, Poppy, and the circle of family.
