I don't hunt, but I thought that the interesting part of it was tracking your quarry, outsmarting it, being patient, and then getting off a good shot with a weapon to finish the deal. That's a hunt.

I don't see much of that with the harp seal kill - the babies just walk up and have their brains beaten in by morons with clubs. DO "real" sport and game hunters consider the seal slaughter hunting?

is harder to spell?

As for sportsmen, you have hunters who think it's fun to kill game while it's locked up in a cage. Not all but apparently quite a few.

Personaly when i see hunters go into a woods naked with only a knife and refuse to eat until they have caught something, THEN I will have respect for the "sport"

But that' s just me.

On edit.. remember though that these seals aren't being culled for sport but to make money. And there's very little that too cruel that people won't do for lots of money.

4. I don't know...
try being an Inuit with seal hunting and fishing your only sources of subsistence and trade, and see what you call it...people who hunt because they HAVE to don't care about the thrill of the chase. They can't afford the luxury.

6. Dunno. Why is parking your ass in a stand, waiting for a deer to
eat bait you've set out called "deer hunting?"

9. Hm.
Do you eat meat? Or wear leather? If "yes", then you obviously don't have a problem with killing (as long as someone does it for you)...
