For those who don't want to mourn the Pope

Sure, it's sad the Pope died. It's sad that Terry Schiavo died, too.

But, why are so many people being taken with the news right now? The Pope was a bad person. He was no Hitler, but he did a lot of harm in terms of empowering people like Bush, attacking gays, tolerating child abuse in the Church, and keeping women oppressed by the church.

He was honest and said what he believed, but that doesn't make him good.

Let's hope the Cardinals replace him with someone better.

I don't think the doctrine of the Catholic church would allow for anyone better.

I don't think he empowered Bush! He was one of the few homest leaders who reprimanded Shrub for invading Iraq, and dear old Shrub wasn't happy about it.

The teachings of the Catholic Chruch say that homosexuality is a sin. You can disagree, but that was HIS belief.

I truely wonder if he tollerated child abuse by the Catholic preists. I know the Catholic church has always been very secretive about how and why they dicipline their priests, Brothers and Nuns. I wish he would have been more vocal about their wrongdoings, and I hope his replacement will be more vocal as well.
