An unstated assumption in our MSM is that our leaders are virtuous men
battling evil foreigners and have to resort to strategies that go against our American principles. Is there any basis for believing this?

1. Given That Only The Ultra-Wealthy Can Run For Office, There Is Every
Reason to believe that the bulk of them are much less than virtuous.

2. Historically, yes, in a way.
Although I think the second part -- 'battling evil', etc. -- is not precisely what the founders were thinking about.
Try reading John Madison's thoughts in the Federalist #10 (Federalist Papers). He spelled out the idea of leadership connected to virtuousness pretty well.

3. The M$M is entirely responsive to their economic interests.
If inflation, deflation or stagnation of a public persona/American principle or value earns revenue that is what dictates the editorial and production decisions.

The M$M wants to be the arbiters of what is virtuous and who has virtue. No virtues can be practiced without courage circa Maya Angelou.

Got courageous M$M? :boring:

4. Good thing Abe Lincoln didn't have to deal with the MSM...
He described one of his cabinet members, Simon Cameron, as a man who would "steal anything except a hot stove."

5. Yes, but Republicans were honest and decent people back then.
Why else to the repukes want to be rid of Lincoln; replaced with Reagan of all criminal whackjob nutcases?
