george bush is attending Mass
in St. Matthews Church in Washington, DC along with that lump in the bed. He is such a criminal. They have been repeating his words for the last few hours on MSNBC. He is a joke. Wait until the fundies see him in a Catholic Church they will go nuts. God I hate bush.

but does George know that?

I would assume (a bad thing where he's concerned) that his "people" would have told him this. The priest or Eucharistic Minister should refuse him if he presents himself, right?

I just hate him. I know it's an unchristian thing but I really do.

You may remember that the Bishop of Chicago was making a lot of noise about refusing Kerry Communion because he wasn't toeing the line on anti-choice, practicing Catholic though he is. The chimp doesn't even go to his own church. It's enough to make me wish there was a hell, just so I could imagine * roasting there for all eternity.

77. My husband is Anglican (non-practising), but he does a lot of
readings and liturgical dramatisations at our Church - I'm Catholic -
and the parish priest, and the one before him, always gives him
communion. Both of them always allow the non-Catholic partner in
a mixed marriage to receive communion during the nuptial mass,
although most mixed marriages don't have a full mass, just the
marriage ceremony.

Obviously, it must be at the discretion of the priest. My husband
has never asked to receive, and none of the other priests offer
him communion (although one is always trying to convert him).

65. They don't
They only believe in "Bible-based" salvation, not in believing Jesus was Christ and doing good works. They often actively preach AGAINST good works. Seriously -- the Catholics, Quakers, Unitarians, Pagans, Methodists, etc. do most of the no-strings-attached social justice stuff in most communities.

The idea that Jesus would prefer you to sit around studying the Bible rather than helping out at the SPCA is weird to me, you know? Jesus was a hands-on type of guy.

39. Just so you know, a little thing...
About the little Episcopalian church in the town I live in:

All are welcome to receive communion. The pastor does not feel, nor does the diocese, that they should hold back the sacraments from anyone who wishes to receive them. Something about how they were first offered and making decisions about worthiness to receive them.

I like that.

There are quite a few other quotes in there befitting this situation, such as the one calling people who pray in a very public way as being "hypocrites" who want people to think they are good folks.

But I can't really complain about the Burning Bush going to mass. he needs to be churching.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Be given the wine at Mass? My background is Lutheran and communion is usually in both species for the laity. We go to RC weddings etc. and are offered the wafer. But I am not sure about the wine (the blood of Christ). Can anyone help me here?

59. Catholics (like Lutherans) receive both wine and wafer
although either is sufficient in itself. It's not about laity or clergy.

Communion in the RCC, however, isn't open to any baptised Christian as it is in the Episcopal and Lutheran churches. You need to be Catholic (I believe there are a few small exceptions -- churches not exactly RCC, but in communion with the RCC -- don't remember the details). You need to have received the sacrament of holy communion, and you're supposed to have confessed your sins. (That's pretty loose now -- wasn't so much when I was a kid). Much stricter, in other words.

No, Bush (GW) would not be allowed to receive at a RCC church. His brother Jeb is a Catholic now, so presumably he could.

60. I just started a rumble on a Catholic board.
Many are just swooning over his being there. They're hoping he converts to Catholicism. Yikes!

70. I'm offended by Bush being in ANY church.
He gives Christianity a bad name. It is a mystery to me how anyone could be convinced that man has any spirituality at all. Feh.

61. This ex-Catholic is PISSED
At the f*cking grandstanding, megalomaniac jerk! He interrupts the mass, where JP II is being celebrated, all "look at me! look at me!" Showing how "pious" he is. Dude, His Holiness wasn't too impressed with you.

Fucking JACKASS. It was JP II's right to have that moment to himself, not have *taking away attention and having cameras intrude. I had some problems with His Holiness (women, gays), but he did alot of good things, too. Plus, he was head of the Church and head of a State.

JACKASS. Like he EVER goes to any church service!
