Aviation expert: "If you're rooting for the terrorists, you're in luck"
Go figure. our President can't find the money to implement domestic checked baggage X-raying but he can mortgage our grandchildren's economy on spreading "peace" to Iraq.

=====
Article:

Let's catch up on how well we're doing countering terrorists. If you're rooting for the terrorists, you're in luck.....

(Note, laundry list of recent security breaches and failures of the TSA are mentioned which I will not duplicate per DU rules. Click the link if you are interested :)

Get it? We are not safer than before 9/11. We're actually more vulnerable because those organizations who're supposed to watchdog the TSA are encouraging dishonesty, ineptitude and mis-management by lauding, not condemning, the nitwits running the agency.

Security means not accepting mediocrity. That's what we did before 9/11, and that's where we are today. Too many airports care more about long lines, instead of the known fact that screening could - and must - be made professional. Too many of the Alphabet organizations are too busy making award plaques for TSA and FAA officials, instead of sending hot missives to congress, demanding they be fired. Too many in the media are more concerned with "getting the story" one-on-one from some dishonest TSA press hack, than with getting the truth.

Bad things happen to a nation whose leaders accept bad security.

1. This is so true and drives home the
point very well. With all the success of monkeyboy's "culture of fright"..this should resonate with the masses!

2. "We're not safer"
unfortunately, we ARE safer than before 9/11, the reason being that this time around the WH probably won't ignore 52 warnings, like they did in 2001. Also, they knew that in 2001 they could falsely blame the lapse on Clinton, and that one won't fly any more. SO if the 2001 scenario were to repeat itself, I think RoveCo would actually DO something about it this time (and get some photo ops out of it too).

3. Well, how can we attack Iran, ...
Syria, Lebanon, Cuba, China, North Korea, Venezuela and all those other evil-doers if they aren't allowed to do their evil-doing?

Here's a story title from i think Asia Times;
Trade war: US vs the rest of the world

4. And with all the uninspected containers coming into ports on huge ships,
terrorists could be shipping in small armies, all sorts of weapons, bio-weapons, nuclear materials.

And then there is the issue of trucks crossing borders...

5. Sorry, no budget for that.
Must invade Iraq. Must. Do you want a mushroom cloud as your first warning? :crazy:

8. And even more than that
Are potential hazards in the form of chemical and petroleum plants. For instance, blowing up a tanker (which apparently can be leased with little checking of background *cough*BFEE's Saudi pals*cough*) filled with cholorine gas in a major harbor could kill a million people within an hour. Or the chemicals that are routinely used in petroleum processing -- I remember hearing a security expert (I was on a work gig) mention an incredibly deadly chemical that you can find at just about any tankyard in the country. Hit the sweet spot on valve, and welcome to hell on earth.

But the U.S. is too busy trying to find WMDs to justify the war in Iraq to give much serious thought to how terrorists might be thinking creatively.

6. But George and Condi say we're safer
Gotta love it -- George and Condi love to say how safer we are now.

You know, the same George and Condi who claim that they were completely taken by surprise by Sept 11. (Even though many of us, including civilians who post here, saw it coming.)

So, I guess when something happens again, all George and Condi have to do -- AGAIN -- is say, "Whoodah thunk?"

Besides, George had it all worked out any way: the taking points, prior to the election covered all the bases:
#1 -- "There have been no further attacks. This is because George Bush is a all-knowing godly leader."

#2 -- "This attack shows us yet again how critical it is to have an all-knowing godly leader like George W standing up to our enemies."

These motherfuckers. All things considered, i think George W has done a much better job than Osama bin Laden in destroying America.
