pope anti-condom stance contributed to AIDS epidemic in Africa
A re-broadcast of a Frontline program about the Pope interviewed someone who had this idea.

What do you think?
IF the church doesn't have the resources to care for all those effected by this policy, should they remain quiet or even reverse the policy.

People cover their mouths when the cough to lower the chances of catching a cold. For something this significant, the simple act of using a condom is forbidden?

Is this negligence? If you can't do the time don't do the crime? Real men fix the problems they help create. The pope condemned gays instead. All the nations of the world can't or won't help Africa so certainly the Vatican can't either. Nevertheless, the Vatican is partly guilty for the situation in Africa.

1. I think...
they'd suck in a whole lot more people if they loosened their stand on this and allowed condoms without guilt.

3. Well, to be honest, they didn't just say no condoms
They said no condoms and absolutely no fucking around. That would work pretty well to contain the HIV epidemic if it weren't for that whole human nature thing. ;)

4. Pardon, did you mean to say Bush rather than Pope in your headline?

6. The more poor little kids born, the cheaper the wages
they will accept and the more world corporatists profit.

At least the Pope instructed governments to take care of the poor and their basic needs. I wonder if He was also referring to Walmart workers.

7. The Catholic church doesn't have enough control in Africa to say that.
To blame the whole AIDS epidemic on this Pope is a little odd. Quite frankly, it is stupid to engage in wild sex in Africa even with a condom because there is no promise that it will prevent the transmission of something as small and as hearty as HIV.

8. Thanks for the repost. It doesn't take a documentary to figure that
one out. How about all the kids dying in poverty because of a lack of birth control distribution? This cries out for why we need the UN.

For when tribalism and religious hierarchies fail, call the UN.
