Let us change the way Liberalism is presented.
I would say Liberalism= Decency, honesty and openness.
Right Wingery= Thuggery, Dishonesty, Violence.

Men who personify each: Liberal = George McGovern, War hero, a peaceful and honest man.

Right Winger: Cheney= Snarling Dog, Never did anything honest or brave in his life. His corporate life was a payoff for funneling work to Halliburton when he was the Defense Secretary.

1. I think we need to
tie the word LIBERAL with the word LIBERTY whenever we can.

The bushco crowd have been really good at small soundbites and word association - the dumbed down masses can't handle a sophisticated message. Notice how the resident uses the word freedom all the time, to cover the nonsense that he's spouting, and his people go gaga?

4. Yep, Liberal = Liberty
To help properly define Liberal, maybe we should use it's opposite?

What could be more opposite a good Liberal than, oh say, a nazi?

Anyone who opposes Liberalism must therefore be nazi.

2. Not McGovern. No way. Go Kennedy.
The only thing people remember about McGovern was that he was a Presidential loser.

3. I don't know about that.
If we decide to let that statement stand (and I'm not challenging the fact that it is the impression of the majority at present), isn't that like letting them write the history?

After all, they've rehabilitated Barry Goldwater into the "Father of Modern Conservatism."

McGovern is really not far removed from Goldwater in stature, but we don't stand up for him the same way. HST, Bill Clinton, and Gary Hart all believed in him and worked for him at the time.

And he's still alive! Think of the resource that George McGovern could be if people just bothered to ask.

I don't see why we should let them define our people.
