Shadia Drury, author of "Leo Strauss and the American Right."

from our local low power progressive radio station:

Friends -- During my Monday evening talk show on www.WPVM.org (from 6-7 p.m.), I
will be interviewing Prof. Shadia Drury, author of "Leo Strauss and the
American Right."

Leo Strauss, a German emigre' professor of philosphy at the University of
Chicago, is the intellectual godfather of the neo-conservatives who
control the Bush Administration and much of the Republican Party.

The U.S. media have failed to report the influence of Strauss and his
political philosophy on the Bush Administration, nor the profoundly
undemocratic nature of that philosophy.

Please join me for this important broadcast, which you can also hear
online via our webstream at wpvm.org.

You can find more about Shadia Drury at her website:
http://www.uregina.ca/arts/CRC/

Her essay, "Saving America," can be found on the MAIN homepage at
http://www.main.nc.us.

Please spread the word!

2. How fascinating
I've heard vaguely about UC's history in turning out conservative whackjobs, but didn't know there was a long history there. I'm interested to hear more about this.

3. Interesting article
Seems like a very old "philosophy": Freedom and liberty are "too good" for the majority of people. An "intellectual" defense of elitism. I have to hope the majority of Americans would reject this philosophy! (once they learn of it).

4. Excellent, revealing article
Thanks for posting.

Was the radio show last night or will it be next Monday night? If it's next week, could you please post a reminder next Sunday/Monday?

Thanks,
