How long will it take us to say "We" instead of "Me"?
Maybe it's just "ME" but I think of our country's economical situation as "OUR" problem. I can't understand why so many people think that everything in life is about them only. If we all would start being more inclusive our lives might be more fulfilling. When I see a homeless person I consider it "our" problem that the person is on the streets. I refuse to think of myself only because I am not a right winger.

Can we all start working together instead of thinking of ourselves only or is it too late?

1. It may be too late
Collective solutions are no longer a part of the American imagination. When we hears things stated in collective terms, the eyes tend to glaze over.

With that said, liberalism doesn't help the situation much because it is more about freedom than anything else. Our founding fathers were liberals, and although that resonates strongly in our culture, they had little to do with social responsibility.

2. The place where I work has four project managers.
Two are RW nutters, one is a conservative republican who hates bush and would like to see religion taken completely out of politics, and I'm not sure about the fourth - but she appears to be fairly liberal in her ways.

The RW nutters have the mentality of "This is my work. That is your fault." It shows in how they talk with clients - all sentences start with the word I. For the other two, most sentences start with We.

If a problem arises, the sentences get reversed. The two level-headed project managers place the blame solely on their shoulders, which is good business sense since the client will try to save you. The others point out who made the mistake and deflect it from themselves.

The difference in mentalities is kind of interesting.
