DeLay Scandal of the Day
The drumbeat of revealed unethical practices by House Majority Leader DeLay continues today in the NY Times with indications that significant amounts of money were passed to his wife and daughter. Partisans who are also good government folks might be a bit conflicted: on the one hand, the revealed problems are things that should be resolved for the good of the country; on the other, the DeLay scandals are starting to get stuck in the public consciousness and cannot be good for Republican candidates next year. What's a good liberal to think?

9. Well, convicted is obviously the next step
and, given today's electronic age, I'm sure they'll fight to keep incarcerated slime active in the Congress.

I think death will be the final arbiter. Even then, who knows. The Propagandist claims some high-up connections.

4. As Atrios wrote last night...
What this is very indicative of is that the repukes are throwing DeLay over the side, to cut their losses. Some of this information has to be coming from "the inside". This cannot be good for him.

I suspect that some of this is coming from the offices of a possible successor, albeit very surreptitiously. Pissing off DeLay, even now, is not healthy for a repuke. That said, it seems that the internal repuke bloodbath that was predicted, should they win last November, has come to pass. Once these things get rolling, they tend to take on a life of their own.

Some people have decided that they want the party decoupled from the frothing right, before the 2006 cycle starts. Frankly, I don't know that they can be totally successful at that.

8. He is a cancerous tumor on the gop
and they want to get rid of him. Knowing that, it is a chuckle to listen to him rail against the evil liberals out to get him.

Money obtained illegally is given to his wife and daughter just for posing so they can make more money illegally. Yes, tom, you are as pure as the driven snow.
