We have a chance to end the pukes reign, but leadership is ABSENT!
The american people are receptive to change. I think they're starting to see that the repukes are dangerous, and will stop at nothing to destroy our democracy and our courts. 80% rejected what congress did in the Schiavo nightmare, and long-time conservative judges decry the horrors of delay, (have you read the NYT article? How can this bastard get away with it?--Because we're letting him--) and the murdering monkey. Troops are dying every day, things are getting worse. Economy is tanking, dollar is worthless, gas is outrageous...medicaid is being cut, VETERANS benefits are being cut again.

All these horrible things the pukes are doing to our country are like a rope...an evil, stinking rope that they've tied in a noose around their own necks. Why aren't we pulling the handle to drop the floor? Why don't we crush them and get them on the defensive? It would be so fucking easy.

I said during the schiavo debacle "where is our dem. leadership in all this" DU'ers said, "We don't want to say anything right now, when this is over, we'll get 'em"

It's over. We have a golden opportunity to step on these fucking bugs, to really smash them. Even the whore NYT's is shining light on these cockroaches. So I ask you again, WHERE IS OUR DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP? Why aren't they slipping the noose, putting the pukes on the defensive? Why aren't they telling the American people what SCUM these Repukes are?

Maybe this is the Democratic M.O. Maybe we don't want to win. If we did, we'd be on these pukes like flies on shit, and RELENTLESSLY attacking them.

2. If it wasn't so dangerous and scary, it'd be hilarious...WTF has to happen
in order for the Democrats to take control? They're being handed Delay's head on a platter...nothing...WMD report? NOTHING.
GAS PRICES? NOTHING

Where are you?

22. C'mon Dean! Get out there!
I know rebuilding the party is a 24/7 job but he needs to get folks out and commenting on these great opportunities. The mainstream media sure isn't going to call these idiots on their stupidity and vile nature.

5. Should Dean establish a much higher profile? He's good at...
articulating the outrages of the cabal, and could also possibly present a clearer picture of himself to the public (the true picture of the sensible, moderate guy who served successfully as governor of Vermont).

9. Dean should be seen more, and should also get the talking points
our to the rest of the party. We need a cohesive, coordinated attack on the pukes from every angle.

6. not absent, just dont have an answer.
We don't know where the fuck they are either. I agree that now would be a great time to start the attack on the Repuke's.

I think it's time to take Dean's muzzle off.

This is a golden opportunity for someone who wants some support for a Presidential bid in '08 to step up and be recognized. Many Democrats and Democratic voters would seriously rally up behind someone who has some balls, tells it like it is, and leads the charge against the Reich-Wing War Machine.

10. I think we could rally more than Dems. at this point if we have the right
message.

"We're not gonna let them destroy our courts. We're not gonna let 'em destroy your social security, we're not gonna let 'em destroy your health, we're gonna protect you from these american Fascists."

that's the message.

8. Hello...There's An Election Next Year
I saw General Clark on Washington Journal this morning, and not once did he mention anything about next year's election and how important it is to turning the right wing tide. He, like others, are playing 2008 and replaying 2004. Maybe the good General is doing stump speeches or fund raising which isn't being publicized, but listening to him this morning he didn't appear to address this issue, which I think should be a priority.

There was also Harold Ford Jr., trying to glad-hand and smooth-talk...mentioning he'll run for the Senate in 2006 and how he might win or be competitive. Not a word about other campaigns or that the party has to start energizing on the local and state levels to create the fundamental changes all Democrats so desperately seek.

The problem isn't we don't have issues...we have too many...and different voices trying to outshout others as to which issues are the most important and whose voice speaks to it. There's precious little coordination from the national party to the local ones right now...wasting valuable time...and leaving many weak organizations on their own to somehow fight against bigger, better financed Repugnican ones.

2008 won't mean a thing if Democrats don't take advantage of winning elections in 2006. And the time to start building towards that goal is now.

15. Cart ---> Horse
I want to win on strengths, not on what the other guys haven't done. People realize that by now, they just don't connect Democrats with being the alternative. It's time to clear this mindset of hating Bunnypants and playing on defense and develop some offensive strategies that local candidates can take and start getting out house by house, voter by voter.

Repugnicans will start to collapse on themselves once they see the downside to their follies. Right now it's all inside their caucus...a strong, vibrant Democratic majority in the House will change that dynamic in a hurry...embloden moderates to clear their own house and then he can have a lot of fun watching them eat their own.

Before that can happen, people have to learn Democrats stand on more of the right issues that mean the most to them...and to localize the most important issues and win elections that way. This isn't about them, it's all about us.

18. We've Been Working Since January
I worked on a victorious congressional campaign in 2004 and we haven't let up one bit. We expect a large challenge from the Repugnicans next year (we took the seat from them) and it's gonna cost a lot more just to hold the seat than it did to take it. Also, to keep in touch with the people we reached out to last year. This is the time when making friends and allies will mean a lot in November, 2006.

Alas, again, we're on our own...little to no national party assistance and we can't get a unified message out like the Repugnicans can and do...this always makes Democrats look weak.

Yes, the time to wake up is here...and time's a'wastin...it's time to check out your local Democratic party offices and see how you can help in getting Democrats elected in huge numbers next year.

25. well that sounds good but..
i am in fla and our only dem senator now acts like a repug..he votes consistantly with repugs no matter how it slaps us dems in the face,..and i have worked and do work directly with the dem party and what i hear consistantly..is i wont vote if i have to vote for that bastard!..he has totally gone repug on us!..how much can you expect from dems who work their buns off when the dem you have faith in who was on Kerrys coat tails..now has become a repug.....so now dems here feel disenfranchised by our only dem senator left in office...

he is losing the base of dems here by the bucketfuls!
i don't know how we stop the hemmorage ..i really don't...

i try to keep the dems here charged up..but its more than difficult when the dems keep telling you to take their names off mailing lists cause they are disgusted!

Our votes are stolen over and over, our dems act like repugs..there is little support anymore from the grassroot dems ..its like a slow sinking ship.

27. It's A Major Frustration
Several years ago, you were describing many of the Democratic party offices in our area, and sadly you paint a picture of more areas in the country than I care to ponder.

What frustrates is I see so much apathy among middle age Democrats...those who will vote in the big elections...if they remember...but do little the rest of the time. Meanwhile the Repugnicans have all sorts of activities going on that keep them connected and motivated.

When the Deaniacs started coming out, I had hopes that these people would get involved on the local levels and spread a populist movement within the party. Neither has happened and I see more splintering and apathy than unity and coordination.

It's a shame since this apathy is what drives DINOs and those more worried about their job and power rather than with the party, since they don't hear from these people...and outta sight outta mind.

Wish I could tell ya what will wake up people, but I sense it's a lot more pain than what's currently going on.

Cheers

21. Damn right!
Excellent post! Its not about framing or if Kerry can run again or is America ready for Hillary; it's about what does the Democratic Party stand for and why they should prevail over the Republicans. We need to make 2006 the year of the Message. The Dems need to create a good message that all the candidates rally around. Then pick ten Republcians to take out in the elections and beat them with the Message. Do that and we have a fighting chance in 2008. It sounds like what Newt did in 1994 with Contract on America but dammit he won that fight. Now it is time the Dems get serious about winning.

26. gooboy, it's called "managing up"
I repeat this so much that I'm sure folks are getting tired of it but here it is again:

If you are saddled with an elected official who doesn't seem to know his/her job, then it is your responsibility to "manage up" - let that person know what they are to do. You call, write, email and fax with clear instructions:

*vote to save Soc Sec
*save the filibuster
*get rid of Delay

etc, etc.

If enough people do this, then the elected official will vote the way that you want him/her to vote.

Yes, it's pathetic that you should have to do this but if that elected official isn't doing a good job, then you have no choice.

You can't be nasty but you can be firm. You have to remind them that they are elected by you, that you are a voter, and that you are watching what they do.

Manage up. Don't sit back and wait for them to do what they should do - tell them what to do.
