Re: They Want War
Regarding the DU Hom Pages's "They Want War" article:

I have no problem with anyone being upset with the Democratic Party leaders. The Republicans and Independents see them as losers and it is time that we do, too.

Truthfully, I wish Democratic Underground did not have Democrat in the name. The Democratic Party has, over time, taken the path of least resistance and sold their souls to the concept of “loyal minority”. They have dropped their heads and bowed down to the Republican loud-mouths. This serves no real purpose other than to keep them employed. They have become lackeys.

Screw that.. They may fool themselves into thinking they are doing what is right for the country, but our country needs much more. Our country needs “truth-tellers”; “men of forthright, men of insight” and men/women who will take “forging ahead” over “hanging in”.

But, we have a question to answer also. Will we support those who will not support us? Will we support their end-around waiting game that keeps them in the game while the game deteriorates all around us? I say no, for truthfully, we would get more results from electing moderate Republicans than voting for Democrats who are bound to lose.

Last year, my motto was “Get rid of the Republicans first because they have succumbed to evil and then get rid of the Democrats because they will not stand up to the evil.” The elections changed that.. Now, I say, “Get rid of the Democrats first because they are helping to keep the Republicans in office and then get rid of the Republicans because they have succumbed to evil”.

Do we want to be winners or travel about with wieners? That’s the real question.

Things you can do from your desk: 1.) E-mail your Democratic reps and demand they tell Lieberman to toe-the-line or get out of the party. Help Reid in his efforts to pull Democrats together and tell Pelosi to “get busy” with the same. 2.) Make Howard Dean the focal point of ALL of your political donations (money talks to these assholes). 3.) Bombard the mainstream media with demands to revisit all of the Bush-league scandals and tell them if they don’t, you are going to “sign off”. Hey, let their advertisers know, too. 4.) Send a note to the DLC and tell them that you are resigning from the Democratic Party to become an Independent. Find Independent web sites and reach out to those people, some of whom are open-minded and some of whom are sheep. 5.) Become a sheep-herder.

1. Howard Dean is about the only reason
I'm staying in the Democratic Party. We the people, at the grassroots level have to sieze control of the party.

I've already stated (I'm a member of my DEC) that I am no longer supporting DLCers, New Democrats, and Dixiecrats. I will only support progressive candidates. I just turned down managing a congressional campaign, because the candidate was too conservative.

2. DWA...
I have sent 100`s and 100`s of emails, signed a gazillion petitions, marched against the war, bought bumperstickers, written letters to editors, contacted the DLC, the DNC....anyone I thought would listen.

It took me three weeks to scrape together a $10 contribution for MoveOn, but I was glad to do it and plan to do it again.I wouldn`t send one thin dime to the DLC. I`m so frustrated I can hardly type.
The Democratic base had better get dead serious about transforming our party. It will be a cold day in hell that I`ll vote for another Democratic candidate whose positions scream.... Look-I`m-Almost-A-Republican.
