America is Being Attacked On The Streets
Attacked by a new breed of highway robbers at the gas pumps, America is having it's wealth stolen by Big Oil.

The same oil that has been in the ground forever, is now being sold to us at prices that will cripple our economy, take food from childrens' mouths and make the poor even poorer.

The very same oil that once sold for just $10 a barrel in the Clinton years, now sells for 5 times as much. Big Oil's profits have never been higher due to that 500% increase.

Gee, do ya think maybe b**h has something to do with us being robbed?

1. I favor government price controls
and I don't care if the economists don't like it.

12. In order to protect America from this highway robbery
It may be that price controls need to be instituted. Doing so would save an awful lot of misery.

2. are you sure about $10 a barrel?
I remember $18. Don't exaggerate or it screws your argument. I agree with everything else you said.

16. Actually less than $10 per barrel in 1998
Edited on Thu Apr-07-05 08:34 PM by davekriss
Actually, in nominal dollars, oil declined to $9.39 per barrel in December 1998 (see oil price history. Expressed in 2005 dollars, that's $10.93 per barrel.

$10.93 in December 1998 vs. over $58 per in April 2005. Oil now 5 times more expensive than under the Clinton administration. Good work there, GWB...

Somehow I feel all the anger and pain and irony of a Joe Mantegna in Mamet's House of Games when, after being shot in the stomach by the irate psychologist, says "thank you sir, may I have another?". Bang! And the scene ends.

3. Get used to it. Oil supplies will continue to shrink.
Prices will continue to rise. Western civilization will be transformed to its very core by the growing shortage of cheap oil.

5. No Shortage
Who is going without? There is no shortage yet.

I agree, the age of oil is coming to an end, but it is still a long way off. There is plenty flowing right now but Big Oil is bending us over and raping the economic system. To put it mildly, they are taking advantage of us.

6. There is no shortage anywhere.. Who said there is a shortage???
This is profit taking that is balancing out the low prices from the election period of last year.

Welcome to life under a bush!

4. Gas jumped from $2.159 and $2.229 for reg last week at this time
...to $2.229 to $2.339 /gal for reg today here in Orlando FL. I really think it's going to hit $4.00/gal by the summer!

Another failed policy by King Chimpy!

10. He may not care now
But he will feel the wrath.

Our job is to make sure the wrath is directed his way.

It may be his ultimate undoing. Whatever it takes....

15. He doesn't care. He, his family and his oil buddies are all getting rich
He can't run again anyway and he doesn't give a f*** about America.
All they all care about is making money and paying less taxes.

And he's done an excellent job of that.
