The Winds of Change are blowing in from the South and they bring bad news

for our imperial president.Yesterday, on the orders of Bush, Vicente Fox got his party to approve stripping Lopez-Obrador Mexico City's Mayor of immunity from prosecution.This is like an impeachment.Lopez-Obrador has vowed to take Mxico in the same direction as Chavez, Lula, Kirchner and redirect its wealth to reforming the economic system and abolish privileges for the wealthy. That was unacceptable to Bush and the orders went forth to his puppet Fox to stop this at all costs.

But the tide of history is running deep against our imperial warmongers.Lopez-Obrador is running twenty points ahead of his nearest rival in opinion polls and is likely to win the Presidency in a landslide comparable to the one won by Chavez. When that happens,four of Latin America's largest nations would have firmly slipped out of Uncle Sam's stifling embrace and emerged fully as modern nations able to determine their own destinies.

Their emergence would be good news for us Democrats too because their values are our own,not the global hegemony of the Republicans.Today is a day to cheer our Mexican friends and wish them success.
