I've Been to a FABULOUS Funeral!
Edited on Fri Apr-08-05 04:02 PM by Stephanie

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE - President Bush on Friday said that attending the funeral of Pope John Paul II was "one of the highlights of my presidency" and made clear that he disagrees with former President Clinton's assessment that the pontiff leaves a mixed legacy. - http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&e=5&u=/ap/20050408/ap_on_go_pr_wh/pope_bush&sid=84439559

Apologies to Noel Coward. I wish Nostamj was here to write the lyrics for us!

2. Wow, Condi and Laura are positively drooling over Chirac
Which is not surprising since their husband is an inept buffoon. Down, girls!

30. Chirac is making her knickers damp, looks like.
He seemed to have the same effect on Laura. Maybe THAT'S why Bush doesn't like the French...little inferiority complex there...

8. How can Bush disagree about the Pope leaving a "mixed legacy"?
The man was completly opposed to the defining part of Bush's presidency: the invasion of Iraq. Either Bush agrees that invading Iraq was wrong, or he agrees that the Pope left a "mixed legacy".

10. Well Karzai is not in Bush's party
They are just seated near each other due to the alphabetical seating arangements (in French - U.S. = Etats Unis).

13. So does that mean Bush thinks the legacy is 100% good, or 100% bad?
Edited on Fri Apr-08-05 04:08 PM by BurtWorm
If 100% bad, is it a highlight because he got to go to the Pope's funeral before the Pope got to go to his? If 100% good, does this mean he agrees with the Pope's assessment of the war in Iraq and of capital punishment?

Edited on Fri Apr-08-05 04:15 PM by DARE to HOPE
Bush's "faith" is nothing but a sham, along with everything else he ever says. The fact that he was so voluble on the flight home shows how low his numbers are.

And THEN I read--that Andy Stephenson was on MSNBC today, talking about Gannon/Gosch?!!

Wow!! What a God-blessed day!

17. Is it just me or does Bush look really jealous
In that last shot he seems to be disapproving of the fawning of Kindasleazy over Chirac...sort of:

"How come she don't smile like that for me when I'm suckin' her toes?"

That picture immediately made me think of that slip of the tongue that Condi had a while back. My "Husband" comment. Hmmmm. He sure doesn't look to happy to have his "Wife", I mean Secy of State, being kissed by Chirac. LOL

Will a British divorcee cost 'Wolfie' his job?
From SHARON CHURCHER and ANNETTE WITHERIDGE, Mail on Sunday 12:08pm 20th March 2005

The appointment of George Bush's leading hawk as head of the World Bank was heading for a crisis over his relationship with a senior British employee.

Influential members of staff at the international organisation have complained to its board that Paul Wolfowitz, a married father of three, is so besotted with Oxford-educated Shaha Riza he cannot be impartial.

Extraordinarily, they claim she played a key role in pushing the 61-year-old Pentagon official into the Iraq War. And the row comes amid claims that Wolfowitz's wife Clare once warned George Bush of the threat to national security any infidelity by her husband could cause.

* * * *

"His womanising has come home to roost," a Washington insider said. "Paul was a foreign policy hawk long before he met Shaha but it doesn't look good to be accused of being under the thumb of your mistress." <more at link>

It's a perfect match. She's the virginal ice princess, and he's the sweaty ogreish womanizer. They're equals as bloodthirsty warmongering liars. A match made in hell.

29. That's Chirac kissing her hand.
Older European men still do that! I was in Italy in November and I would see older mean gently grasp the hand of a lady and kiss the hand.
And who says chivalry is dead!

34. These idiots could care less about the historical religious content
They were there stricltly for the politico photo-ops that will be televised ad-naseum. They looked uncomfortable in this setting and I can only imagine their little talks as they they returned home on Air Force I. They are the type to snicke and giggle at the Catholic funeral Mass. They included Andrew Card in their entourage yet snubbed President Jimmy Carter, who was the first President to host a Pope within the Whitehouse.

Anyone notice that President Jimmy Carter had very close relationship with Pope John Paul II, yet he was excluded by George Bush from attending the funeral. Georgie sure knows how to hold a grudge unlike Pope John Paul II. This alone shows that Georgie has no integrity.
