What was YOUR raise in 2004?
Yesterday's local paper had an article in the business section headlined "CEO pay up 12.6% in 2004". I couldn't find it to link it, so I tried a google search with "CEO pay up". :sigh:

30. Raise? Just be glad to have a job. That's what I've heard
every other year or so for the last 5 years. But some years, there are 2 to 3% raises.

My raise lowered my income by 5%.

All of the basic, fundamentals needed have increased. Don't sell your dog, you may need him to help hunt for food.

That just about pays for gas in my car so I can go to work to make more money to put gas in my car to go to work.

15. Yeah, and hopefully your car keeps running in tip top shape
We've had a couple of car repair bills of late and we're getting desperate on needing the brakes fixed. But it's going to have to wait another month or two. We may be down to one car soon.

On the bright side, we'll save money on gas! :headbang:

my raise did not cover the increased cost of health care so I actually got an "unraise." Anyone else have a job where benefits are included in your "pay raise."

She's a state employee for the State of GA. They finally got a 2% raise (after 2 or 3 years of being on a freeze), but their health insurance went up somewhere between 9% and 13%.

Gotta love how our Republican Gov and Republican Ins Comm are really doing their jobs.... :sarcasm:

21. I was in state civil service for 15 years
The best raise I ever received, IIRC, was 5%. That was the first year back in 1980. After that, the best we ever got was 3%, if anything at all.

The benefits were good, but they didn't help put food on the table or gas in our car and the wages were already at the bottom.

18. "unraise" LOL
I've had a couple of positions that included the benefits as part of the salary. I used the same tactic to up my salary on resumes when salary history was required. (It didn't go over too well though)

28. 2.5%. But we also have this median salary number we are given.
I actually dropped on my median salary to 79% of this jobs median salary, from 80%. I'm sure the only reason I even got 2.5% was because I would have dropped even further.

Ow and out of that 2.5% a chunk of that was eaten up by... our healthcare going up 40%(albiet it is low still, although I don't have copays so visiting the doctor is more expensive for me(50.00).

Its funny how you can save a comany millions but their ass puckers up tighter then a snare drum over 500 fucking dollars...

29. 6%, but it was the first raise in 4 years and then they offered a 40% cut
in exchange for the "benefit" of becoming a permanant employee. I declined, with the knowledge I am out with the next financial setback, or their ability to find someone that can do what I do less expensively. What I do is esoteric, so it is not that easy, but they are shopping.

very large company, the kind that people love to hate around here. He's worked for them for 24 years, and in about 6 more years will leave them, take his money, and go somewhere else.

My "raise," if you can call it that, was about 100% - we moved, I changed jobs (same profession, but different venue).

Needless to say, although I have gotten very good reviews for the past 4 years, as goes the same with many of my fellow employees, we haven't gotten a single raise during that time, more over, no bonus either.
Bonus's are just that a bonus, I don't count on them, but hell a cost of living raise would be nice.
So why am I still here? I'm currently going back to school at night, so one day, after I have graduated and found another job, I can come in and tell my boss to eat shit because I quit.
The running joke here is: you have to quit to get a raise. Not me, I'm not looking back.
