Newspaper Reports "Developing Nations and Liberals" disappointed with Pope
My local newspaper actually reported on the front page that "developing nations" and "liberals" were disappointed with the selection of Ratzinger as the new pope.

This is just common sense, but somehow it does not seem like something that would normally get articulated in a newspaper (other than in an op-ed piece.)

It further advances the notion that liberals are "against religion" or against the traditional teachings, and it further polarizes the world by dividing Catholics into "liberals" and "conservatives", terms usually only used to classify citizens of nations, not members of a church.

Finally, I'm sure it's generating glee and gloating among Bushies and those self-identified conservatives who think that they are triumphing over liberals. First they got control of the US, now they have the Catholic Church...
