U.S. Daily Casualties 9/17/2003
As of Tuesday, 297 U.S. soldiers have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the Department of Defense.
The British military has reported 49 deaths. Denmark's military has reported one death.
On or since May 1, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 159 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq, according to the latest Defense Department figures.
No new deaths were reported by U.S. Central Command.
The latest identifications reported by the military:
Army Staff Sgt. Kevin C. Kimmerly, 31, North Creek, N.Y.; died Monday in Baghdad, Iraq, after his patrol vehicle was hit by a grenade; assigned to B Battery, 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, based in Baumholder, Germany.
