Poll question: Why did Moussaoui plead guilty?
Edited on Thu Apr-21-05 09:45 PM by Jim Sagle
After all, the case against him is not air-tight, and he could face the death penalty.

1. For a last-ditch hope to save his ass.
They undoubtedly told him that if he pled guilty he would have a chance of escaping death, whereas if he pled innocent he'd certainly be found guilty and given the death penalty. Remember, this guy assumes our justice system is out to get him. They say, "we'll convict you," he believes it.

Why is that not an option?

3. Thanks. I voted "Martyr," because that would be my
second-choice theory, so if anyone is looking at the results, throw it over ;)

4. If I had to venture a guess...
He's been locked up in Gestapo....ahem, I mean Federal custody for several years.

I'm betting that the little peek into the Torture Machine (courtesy of the Abu Graib photos) was only the very tip of the iceberg, so it's no telling what has been done to him psychologically and physically these past three years. :wow:

I really wouldn't be too surprised if he plead guilty to the Lindberg baby kidnapping, the Hoffa disappearance and claimed to be on the Grassy Knoll in Dealey Plaza in November, 1963, too. ;)

5. Bushco drove him crazy.
Moussaoui has the goods on the BFEE regarding 9-11. The FBI wouldn't search the guy's laptop, even though the FBI's own agents in Minneapolis said the guy could be plotting a plane hijacking. Washington sat on the FISA requests, about the only time that's ever been turned down in a suspected terrorism case. And of course there's Moussaoui's connection to Michael Guess, Paul Wellstone's co-pilot. If there were to be a trial, even a secret one, too many people would learn about MIHOP.

So, it'll be like Timothy McVeigh. Guilty as charged. Let him hang from a rope tied around his neck until dead. Case closed.

PS: It's like Stalin and de Lay say: "No man. No problem."

The government doesn't consider Eric Ruldolph a terrorist.

8. We actually have no idea all the dirt the feds have on him.
You assume the case is not air tight. It could be tighter than a bass drum. They never tell us the whole story.

It could be, just maybe, slim chance, possibility he plead guilty because he was?

Of course the chainsaw option does have a effect on you

:sarcasm:

9. Maybe because he is?
Unless being kicked around and bounced out of flight schools is part of a Middle Eastern secret game show.

13. Martyrdom. But it's lose/lose regardless.
of course, using the template of us/them respective, there's no win-win, lose-win, or win-lose.

When people resort to callous wanton violence, there is little chance of changing their mindsets, unless there's an aspect of human nature I'm not aware of.
