AWESOME letter in a RED state...there is hope yet....Great READ
War opponents do honor troops

In his commentary "Bush-haters don't honor, understand our soldiers" (April 21 Opinion), David Gelernter stated that "soldier-hating baby boomers" were motivated by guilt, because they never served in the military. Isn't that rich, coming from a man defending the Bush-Cheney administration? How many in this administration served when they had the chance? I, on the other hand, served two years as a Nixon draftee from 1971 to 1973. Just because I don't support the Bush war in Iraq doesn't mean I don't understand or support our troops.

Mr. Gelernter further stated that our soldiers were "fighting to protect your country and rid the world of torture, terrorism and tyranny." How? By torturing prisoners or by terrorizing the Iraqi civilian population? I just find it incredible that the only way to show our support for the soldiers in Iraq is to blindly support this corrupt administration. It takes more than magnetic ribbons and spouting the Republican Party line to support our brave young men and women in uniform.

2. Sooner or later the rhetoric starts to crumble
People KNOW who "supports the troops." It would have been "baby-boomer's" serving in Vietnam. How the hell can they think otherwise? Granted the last tier of baby-boomer's would have been too young to serve, but how dumb do they have to be to blame Vietnam veterans for not supporting the troops?

3. There was also a good letter regarding the treatment of the LGBT
community by certain churches.

6. look in the opinion line section also...
Brownback coy on presidential bid? As a Democrat, I couldn't be happier. Bring it on.

Did anybody else think that the Rev. Terry Fox looked like a fool on "Hardball with Chris Matthews"?

4. Apparently Gelernter didn't serve, either, judging from his bio
at the speaker's agency that represents him.

Typical.

5. No surprise
that the cheerleaders all have managed to miss the action? They are the type that most aggravate this veteran. Not all were drafted, enlistment openings have always been available if one is gung-ho for adventure in the military.

7. Great article!
I love it. He puts it all into words. What we are apposing is the corrupt Bush administration who are clearly abusing the military for his own greedy selfish bastard self.
