Just Us Sunday: A Review
Edited on Sun Apr-24-05 10:32 PM by uhhuh
Well, the "Just us Sunday" broadcast has been aired, and here is my review:

I have retitled their event to fit the theme. It should have been called Just Us Sunday because they have no interest in having anyone's opinion validated other than theirs.

The message was clear. The courts of this nation, which have primarily been staffed with appointees of reagan, george h.w. bush, and his mentally deficient son, are too liberal. They have the temerity to rule on existing law, rather than some sort of talibornagain, fascist dictates.

George the lesser must have his radical, pro-corporate theocrats approved, or the whole system is broken.

They couldn't get enough of declaring that this is a democracy, and that there is a majority of bible thumping mouth breathers out there that agree with them( which I seriously doubt, most religious an non-religious folk, like myself prefer to leave others to believe as they will), so the only solution is to force their wishes on a (presumed) minority of people.

Republicans and conservatives used to never stop talking about how this nation is a republic, not a democracy, and how deciding issues by how popular they are was mob rule. I wonder what changed? Oh yeah, they were the minority party then, that's what.

They brought out dobSin to talk about his fantasies about porn and the murder of babies, and that insidious "Gay Agenda". Projection, anyone?

They brought out an African-American man to compare their struggle with the civil rights movement, a cynical race card play if ever there was one.

And we can't forget the poseur Catholic Bill Donohue, who viciously attacked other Catholics who don't agree with him 100í

They needed a Kennedy bash, and this guy delivered.

Each moment of this farce was scripted and calculated in the most obvious way:

DobSin to throw out the attack on families canard

Donohue to tell you who the bad Catholics were if they were in the opposition

Bishop Harry R. Jackson, Jr was there to put a pigmented face of the proceedings and to try to make it seem like they were being denied their civil rights.

They brought out, that poor, unfairly maligned, RACIST charles pickering to talk about how those eeeevil Democrats wouldn't pass him along to hang his white sheet behind the bench in the 5th circuit. He suffered so much that little geedub had to sneak him in as a recess appointment, but he suffered, don't forget that, even though he got his way.

For further info on pickering, look here:

Pickering's appalling ideas on race, state's rights, women, and workers are largely an open book. And there's quite a paper trial, starting with a 1960 law review article for the University of Mississippi Law School. In a piece titled "Criminal Law Miscegenation/Incest" Pickering lamented that Mississippi's law criminalizing marriages between blacks and whites wasn't being enforced strictly enough. He took it upon himself to draft a plan to beef up the statute and toughen the sanctions for sex between blacks and whites. Two months after the law review article appeared in print, the Mississippi legislature turned the Pickering plan into law.

http://eatthestate.org/07-12/NaturePolitics.htm

The whole event had psychovangelist tony perkins(hehe little joke, cause his name is tony perkins, get it?) running back out between speakers to kiss the rings of these vermin.

They closed with a devisive prayer to some God I certainly don't recognize, and one of the worst songs I've ever heard in an attempt at an appeal to patriotism( the song was some horrible, sappy, support the troops and their familes message, which had no place in this event. They didn't talk about the troops at all previously.)

This whole thing would be hilarious satire if they weren't serious, and if there weren't people out there who don't see how badly they are being played.

Throughout the show, they ran the numbers of all the senators from every state and encouraged everyone to call. They had the general switchboard number up too.

I would suggest that sane Americans call also. If the only calls they get are from these crazies, they might get the impression that more than a few nuts think this way:

Here is the switchboard number for the Senate:

(202) 224-3121

Let your senators know that you will not be bullied by theocrats because they are loud and angry. make your views heard.

So Just Us sunday was just that. they want to decide for you and your family what's right.

Who decides if your have dominion over your own body?

Just Us

Who decides what constitutes a marriage?

Just Us.

Who decides if you are a devout person of faith?

Just Us.

Who decides what the Constitution says and who it protects?

Just Us,they say.

Scary, huh?

On Edit:

Yipes!!

I forgot Frist!!

He didn't have the balls to appear, so he sent a message talking about bipartisanship, OR ELSE!!

Sounds real conciliatory, huh?

Do it our way, in the spirit of friendship, or we'll blast ya.

That cat killer's a real charmer....

2. Seems like it was awful
Disgusting. I was listening to Guy James' show last night and he had a reverend on there and he also called their event "Just Us." That's what it is. They don't give a damn about law. Even Jesus did. These people aren't Christians at all. Sometimes I think that these people are just loudmouths and it appears that they are the majority but really aren't. I think a lot of rational republicans are a bit weary of them. I wonder why they don't stand up though. I hope this whole event opens some eyes to people. Bill Frist should be ashamed of himself.

I have updated it.

It was bad, but rod parsley on breakthrough last night was worse.

That is one insane dude.

Check out his Center For "Moral Clarity" to see what I mean.

He'll surely be annointed as the next rising star in nutso right, religio-fascist brigade.

6. Thanks for your re-cap.
I watched it as well. The impression I took from this is that ultimately, they want to take over the Supreme Court. If the filibuster is done away with, they can get more judges who rule from their religious beliefs rather than the law. Get enough judges like that around the country and there will be a larger pool of these judges to pick from when vacancies open up on the Supremem Court so they can do away with Roe v Wade, make sure gay marriages never happen, and keep people who should be allowed to die with dignity alive with artifical means forever and ever.

I will be calling my senators, Durbin and Obama, tomorrow as well even though I think they will vote to keep the filibuster, but, they should hear from people in favor of the filibuster anyway.

This event was really appalling. So many lies told by these "pastors". I would love to see the churches that partcipated in this to lose their tax-exempt status.
