http://www.stoplockheed.org/page1.htmOver the past few months, anti-war demonstrators have focused their protests on corporations that are directly profiting from the War on Iraq. One such corporation is Lockheed Martin, a developer of anti-personnel landmines depleted uranium weapons, and nuclear weapons, with close ties to the Bush administration.
On April 22, 2003 fifty-two protesters were arrested at the demonstrations at Lockheed Martin, for practicing their right to freedom of speech and demonstration.
Lockheed Martin, working with the Santa Clara County District Attorney, seeks an unprecedented legal penalty: Restitution to reimburse their company $15,000. They are charging a small group of protesters for the cost of alleged additional security during a non-violent, peaceful protest and demonstration in Sunnyvale.

Defense attorney Dan Mayfield stated, "Charging a group of arrestees for the costs a company predicted they would incur in anticipation of a protest is ridiculous. What if Lockheed had hired $15,000 worth of extra security and no protesters showed up? Who would receive the bill? There is no logical basis for Lockheed Martin to claim restitution from protesters for arbitrary security costs."
Please support "The Lockheed 52" by taking the time to write letters to the editors of The Mercury News and Sunnyvale Sun and let them know that freedom of speech should not be controlled by corporations. What Lockheed Martin is doing is wrong! This case is something that will affect us all!

I once asked a Lockheed engineer that I knew, why he used his intelligence to make things that killed people instead of using it to help/benefit people. He did not answer.
