Ambassador Wilson: White House Operatives Are Traitors
by ePluribus Media

Mon Apr 25th, 2005 at 20:09:19 PDT

(From the diaries -- kos)

By Susan Gardner
ePluribus Media

In an interview with ePluribus Media this weekend, former U.S. Ambassador Joseph Wilson IV revealed CIA administrators have denied ex-CIA undercover operative and WMD expert Valerie Plame permission to publish an op-ed defending herself in the New York Times. Wilson also indicated he and his wife may seek legal action against administration officials. Calling the Bush administration "the most belligerent and secretive government in my lifetime," Wilson said he believes White House officials orchestrated a smear campaign "to discourage others from coming forward."

He also used the "T" word. As in "traitors."

An interview with Joe Wilson.

here's a snip:

When you look at the political landscape today, do you see specific instances in which the tactics used to discredit you have been used on others?

Sure. Start with the attacks on John McCain in South Carolina during the 2000 election. Look at what they did to Richard Clarke, with Bill Frist accusing him of perjury on the floor of the Senate. Swift Boat Veterans savaged John Kerry with their lies.

It has become, regrettably, a common tactic of the right. One need look no further than Fox News, Bill O'Reilly, Hannity and Ann Coulter. Heck, James Dobson even tried to smear Spongebob.

2. Wow, "traitors" - language doesn't get any stronger than that
He wouldn't have used it carelessly, he must have some solid stuff to back it up.

6. It would appear to be accurate
Someone high up outed a NOC operation run by Valerie Plame. Damage to US security during a time of conflict was thereby inflicted. At least one highly placed Bushadmin individual needs to be given a cigarette and a blindfold and placed before the wall ...

5. I'm starting to wonder if
the ones who would go after them are waiting until they're out of power to do so.

Saddening thought, that they could be that intimidated.

7. I think its obvious who let his name out.
One thing you can't forget, his last name rhymes with Stove and his first name rhymes with Snarl.

9. Unfortunately, Wilson has not been particularly successful so far
And it is really discouraging that an experienced and well-connected diplomate armed with solid evidence of treason cannot leave a dent in the armor that surrounds these crooks.

What happened with the investigation in the Plame case anyway? Not even a straw man was sacrificed, was there?

10. The grand jury is still out.
Hence it may be a bit early to make the claim that not "even a straw man was sacrificed," unless you are privy to the inside scoop.

I think that it is even sillier to say that Ambassador Wilson did not make a dent on the administration. I suppose that one would have to define "dent" to be sure we are on the same wave length. But I think that a significant number of people who became aware of what happened in the Plame case have lost faith in the administration. They do not depend upon the corporate media to tell them which way the wind blows.

11. Do you think they'll eventually allow Valerie to tell her side?
It's somewhat damning that the one individual who was ostensibly harmed the most- Plame herself- is unable to tell her story due to "national security".

Personally, I think that particular excuse has outlived its usefulness in some situations It's an oh-so-convenient a roadblock to the truth, isn't it?

12. I don't think that
they -- the dark forces of the government -- will ever allow a Valerie Plame or a Sibel Edmonds to speak openly and honestly to the American public. But I pray that one of them (or both) will recognize that despite the personal punishment they will face, they need to talk.

We've had a number of people who have led the way in this type of thing. I remember when I was young, having chills going up my spine when I heard a determined young heavyweight champion named Muhammad Ali say that he was ready to face machine guns rather than deny the truth. Men like Malcolm and Martin faced death, and refused to flinch.

So, I am hoping that these women will find it in themselves to take that step.

17. Good question.
I guess I think it is better to tell the truth than sell the truth. I would hope these women speak out or write the story in such a way that becomes public no matter what. There are publishers outside the USA. Like "In The Spirit of Crazy Horse" and "Lazarus and the Hurricane," such a book would face an effort to keep it out of the USA. But the truth crushed to earth, as Martin used to quote, will rise again.

13. And, it's an incredible hyposcrisy.
Novakula's original defense was that everyone in Washington knew who and what she was anyway. His revealing her uncover status probably cost informants their lives. Now she can't defend herself for reasons of national security? Such bull shit piling up in DC!

16. Hypocrisy rules
I really have the outmost respect for Joe Wilson's relentless quest for justice.

But again, if a man of his caliber manages to achieve exactly nothing in (what is it now?) 2-3 years, that isn't just scary, that is fucking scary.

The case is so simple, and the investigation should be so simple. Do we really have to wait for a change in Administration before this issue can be resolved?
I also cannot understand that the CIA doesn't take this matter personal (or maybe they did and that was the true reason for Tenet's retirement). After all, they should be more loyal to their own than to the opportunists in the Administration.
Now that Cheney's laptop is holding the reigns in the Agency, chances of this case ever being brought to justice have gone from slim to none.

19. Poppy agrees about the traitor part, but Babs won't let him speak up.
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 10:51 AM by Kansas Wyatt
Something about the "most insidious of traitors," regarding to the outing of a CIA Op, to be exact.

On Edit: It has been speculated that Babs has the nutcrusher on Poppy.
