So, who* is* getting rich?
NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. oil and gas producer Occidental Petroleum Corp. (OXY.N: Quote, Profile, Research) on Tuesday reported record quarterly profit, boosted by sharply higher oil prices during the first three months of the year.

Net income in the first quarter rose to $846 million, or $2.11 a share, from $487 million, or $1.24 a share, in the year-earlier period.

Analysts on average expected the company to report a profit of $1.98 a share, according to Reuters Estimates.

Sharply higher oil and gas prices were largely behind the rise in Occidental's earnings, with income from its oil and gas business rising 47 percent to $1.3 billion.

1. WHAT??????? The Oil a& Gas cos are PROFITING From the false shortage?????
HOLY SHIT!

Say it isn't SO!

But, but but but but, there's a SHORTAGE, right? So if there is LESS gas to sell (???) then shouldn't they be rationing it, instead of profiting so highly from it?

Gosh, I'm an American. I'm SO confused!

Oh wait, there's a BUSH in the white house, NEVER MIND, it's all clear to me now!

2. Is any one trying not to use gas as much as they use to?
Have big car sales gone down yet? Just what is going on with this.? I only hear people fussing and know of one person that got a smaller car but even then they kept the big one also. They are trying to only drive the smaller one. People must be doing something around the country. Why would Bush be kissing the King of SA? Or him kissing Bush?

3. GM and Ford are bleeding out right now...
because of their over reliance on SUVs and Trucks to support sales. Alhtough they are both really just finance companies not car companies now.

5. Who is?
Don't forget the weapons manufacturers too. This crappy war is costing us plenty. CBS had a part on the Army Depot repairing tanks and humvees damaged in this stupid war. Their budget is now over 1 billion and if the war would end today the repairs will go on for 2 years. This doesn't even touch on the part of repairing the soldiers who are going to come home.

Oil and gas prices are driving up the cost of everything. Thanks alot knuck* knuck*.
