Gallup: 50% of Americans Now Say Bush Deliberately Misled Them on WMDs

By E&P Staff

Published: April 26, 2005 11:45 AM ET

NEW YORK Half of all Americans, exactly 50%, now say the Bush administration deliberately misled Americans about whether Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, the Gallup Organization reported this morning.

"This is the highest percentage that Gallup has found on this measure since the question was first asked in late May 2003," the pollsters observed. "At that time, 31% said the administration deliberately misled Americans. This sentiment has gradually increased over time, to 39% in July 2003, 43% in January/February 2004, and 47% in October 2004."

Also, according to the latest poll, more than half of Americans, 54%, disapprove of the way President Bush is handling the situation in Iraq, while 43% approve. In early February, Americans were more evenly divided on the way Bush was handling the situation in Iraq, with 50% approving and 48% disapproving.

3. Is there any polling data available?
Like how they polled 58% Reuplicans, and 35% Democrats. That's what they usually do to skew the results.

5. considering the horrible job done by our media
even this number is surprising.
It should be 99.9, with only a handful of lunatics resisting the obvious.

10. So, does this also mean that half of the US believes that Bush should be
impeached? Not that anything will come of it, of course, but isn't starting a war under false pretenses an impeachable offense?

13. I'd like to think so.
Us thinking it and Congress doing it are two different things though.

11. Pollkatz says Gallup's "Fudge Factor" is 3.839
I think I am reading that right. If so then the answer is that at least 54% "think" ;-)he lied.

12. The only W poll that mattered happened 6 months ago
From here on out, it's downhill all the way for bush and it doesn't matter even one teensy tiny bit. He may as well have 105% job approval, for all the good it will do us now.

AFAIC, Gallup can shove their numbers up their collective arse. In 16 months, they'll be back to propping the GOP party line again: "80% of respondents in our fair-and-balanced online survey support the Republican congressional plan for America, whatever that is. In other questions, Americans overwhelmingly rejected the idea of open source code-review for voting machine software and condemned the concept of publicly-owned utilities."

Fuck 'em. Fuck 'em all. I have no more patience to suffer their bullshit.

14. Gallup...
... polls during the runup to 2004 always seemed to favor the Repubs about 5-7% compared to almost every other poll.

As for the WMD issue - connect the dots. People are rejecting Bush**'s Social Insecurity proposal because they simply don't trust him any more. The more he stumps, the lower his stock in SS goes.

Most people don't keep believing someone who has lied to them repeatedly.
