Photos from Chicago's Rally to Stop the Judicial Takeover

Blue-Jay and I attended this event today at Federal Plaza. It was one of 192 rallies in all 50 650-700 people attended. It was very brief and focused (unlike a lot of the antiwar demos) and a very mainstream crowd was in attendance, many in business attire, having just left work. There were only a handful of cops and no counter protesters.

The speakers focused on how many of our cherished rights and freedoms that the courts protect and the basis for using international law to guide the courts in decision-making. I really enjoyed a Methodist minister who spoke about the hijacking of religion by the radical right and all of the issues true Christians should focus on — like healthcare and the environment.

6. Great pics
thanks for being there!! I wrote this LTEE which should be published soon - my sentiments exactly.

I am sick of this Republican administration using the churches to push their agendas (Justice Sunday). These Republicans are the modern day “money changers” that Jesus (who loathed politicians), would throw out again if he were here today. Wake up people, you are being used. This administration is hiding behind the Bible and the churches while destroying the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Going after the Judges and the Courts, America’s last bastion of freedom, is the only thing that stands in their way of a complete dictatorship. Leave the stench of this administration in Washington and don’t allow these politicians to contaminate God’s house with their blasphemy, greed and lies.

9. I do too
I had some spare time today and checked over at a few Repub websites... they seem just as delusional now as ever, maybe even more so. Hopefully the fantics are few, and the moderates are more so, but it seems the fanatics have the loudest voices at the moment.

But thanks again for TAKING A STAND!

11. Thanks
I sent them to MoveOn. We'll see if they use any of them. Unfortunately, I have too much time on my hands these days.
