CBS has caved, WILL be airing Bush press conference
Survivor and CSI will be preempted, pushed forward one hour.

On the bright side, this will piss off a lot of people who were expecting to tune into Survivor and instead will see Bush destroying the English language trying to defend an extremely unpopular Social Security "vision".

1. Of course CBS caved.
After "Rathergate," they'll do anything Rove asks to avoid appearing "liberal."

4. pResident Rain Man?
Whatever disability Bush** has, it is certainly not autism. (I'm leaning toward "expressive language disorder" combined with some form of personality disorder at present.) Could Bush** count 246 toothpicks on the floor in a split second? (Can he even count to 246?) Memorize the RBI stats of obscure ballplayers (or Sammy Sosa, for that matter)? Most importantly, would Tom Cruise's hottie GF evince even the slightest interest in Bush**? I maintain that she would not.

Besides, I still have designs on being the first President with autism... and you'd like it a HELL of a lot beter than what we have now!!

14. Actually my armchair diagnosis is (IF Frist can do it why can't we)
Narcissistic personality: Persons with this personality disorder are grandiose; ie, they have an exaggerated sense of superiority. Their relationships with others are characterized by their need to be admired, and they are extremely sensitive to criticism, failure, or defeat. When confronted with a failure to fulfill their high opinion of themselves, they can become enraged or seriously depressed. Because they believe themselves to be superior, they often believe others envy them and feel entitled to have their needs attended to without waiting. Thus they can justify exploiting others whose needs or beliefs they consider less important. Such characteristics often offend persons they encounter, including their physicians. This personality disorder occurs in high achievers but may also occur in persons with few achievements.

16. don't forget his reading disorder
possible dyslexia, but yes, narcissistic personality disorder sounds good. I got my degree in psych, and from what I can tell, I'd agree. My friend and I went as far as starting a "Hospitalize Bush" site, but never really got it up and running. We were gonna petition to have Bush recieve treatment for his disorder(s?), or something.

8. It's wrong for them to air his press conference?
I really don't get this...when was the last time a press conference helped Bush? And even if Bush was some kind of press conference god, I still don't see why it would be right, in any way, for CBS to just not air a press conference. Networks need to pre empt bad television with news events more often, not less, and just because I don't agree with a guy doesn't mean I don't think he should get TV time.

10. Anything that gives Bush a forum
or "validates" him in any way pisses me off these days.

The major networks shunning him brought a smile to my face.

But I'm happy that more people will see him make an ass of himself I suppose.

15. You don't want him to have a forum?
Wow. I mean, I can't stand the man, but I think he should definatly get a forum. Now, granted, I think WE deserve more of a forum as well, but that doesn't mean he should get less of a forum. It's far more unsettling to me that a network would choose "survivor" or "will and grace" over a presidential address than--say it ain't so--allow people to watch some unfiltered news for once. And honestly, if they get that, we win. This guy sucks at press conferences; it's a good thing that this is happening.

I realize you probably don't belive in denying Republicans a forum, but that's definatly how it comes across.

19. Networks should air presidential news conferences
Society has dumbed down enough that networks would rather air reality shows, pseudo-news or blabbering talking heads than actual press conferences.

I don't care who the president is. Networks should get back to actually airing news events. Perhaps people will learn what's really going on in the misadministration.
