Christian Hoff Sommers makes claim of Little League not keeping score
Last night(repeat today) on the Daily Show, Christina Hoff Sommers whose latest is "One Nation Under Therapy" and previously "Who Stole Feminism" claimed that Little League baseball in Massachusetts doesn't keep score anymore. Jon Stewart asked her if this was anecdotal or the norm. She said it was prevalent. I live in Massachusetts and am not aware of any Little League baseball towns and cities that do this. Is anyone familiar with this? Or is this just the right wing fanatics making it up again.

2. THAT'S THE BOOK! I have been trying to remember it all day.
I wish I could tell you that it wasn't so but it is. Also, the games she talked about and the ninny mind set that spawn them I have seen in action. Its part of the reason I retired from teaching after nearly 30 years.

3. I'm guessing Right Wing fiction
Especially considering that Little League Baseball holds national playoffs and its own World Series every year.

4. The Saugus, MA Little Leaguers made the Little League World Series

two years ago. What a bunch of bullshit. Everyone knows that Massachusetts is one of the most hard-driving and competitive states in the union-in both academics and sports.

6. She's just another right wing whack job with nothing to say
worth listening to. I don't know about Little League, but if she said it, it's probably bullshit.

7. Right-wingers are presumed to be lying until proven otherwise.
Just the way it is. They've lied so often about so many things, that anything the utter has to be assumed to be fiction.

9. the youngest league in our town
does not keep score...roughly 5-7 year olds I think. Nobody wins...wait, I mean...everybody wins. Whatever.

Anyway, after playing in the no keeping score league for a few years these kids graduate to the highly competitive score keeping next level. It's wild.

Not keeping score is a real phenomenon. It's not made up. I've seen it myself here in Indiana.

10. That's nothing new
When I played Little League back in the early 80's, they didn't keep score in the 5-7 year old division.

They didn't have 3 outs per inning either. Each team went through its whole batting order, then when they were done, they'd switch.

When you moved up to the 8-10 year old division, that's when the games started to count.

is a term like kleenex...its usage has become more broad.

I think that is what Hoff Summers was referring to.
