Whats truly amazing is that since 9/11, N Korea has been makng threats to the US. Isnt is amazing that the media CBSNBCABCCNNNYT havent made a peep about it? Are they afraid of reporting the true tensions because they dont want to make Bush's popularity rise or stay strong?

It is true that a full-blown N. Korean nuke crisis will squash Iraqi quagmire story in no time.:)

5. These guys don't know what the fudge they are talkin about
"Isnt is amazing that the media CBSNBCABCCNNNYT havent made a peep about it? Are they afraid of reporting the true tensions because they dont want to make Bush's popularity rise or stay strong?"

Here's a news flash... Bush & Co. are the folks downplaying and dismissing North Korean sabre-rattling. Saying stuff like North Korea developing nukes is "not a crisis". I've read and saw countless news stories on North Korea screaming for attention and Bush & Co. looking the other way (under the guise of "getting multilateral talks" going).

They may be right that NK may become a flashpoint...but just like 9/11 it will be because the folks in charge are ignoring a crisis looming before them.

6. Bush himself called NK a 'regional issue' and washed his hands of it
in the event of any kind of difficulty with NK, the blame will be soley on Bush

and isn't it a typical example of the freeper's rabid anti-Americanism, that the only reason they have to feel bad about our troops DYING DAILY in Iraq is because it's bad PR for the chimp :eyes:

they don't care about the daily deaths, the wounded, the broken military families (who are now dealing with less benefits thanks to the chimps tax cuts), all they care about is the television illusion that Bush is grand

Lock 'em ALL in Gitmo!

I don't know what news this moron has been reading or watching, but I recall a large number of references from myriad news outlets about NK threats.

They're so fucking brainwashed it doesn't matter to them whether we're attacking Eurasia or Eastasia.

9. Er... this is a bush disaster waiting to happen...

They were very, very public when it was learned that the admin had held back damaging info about NKorea's nuclear program/developments - info that the admin had but would not release until after the war resolution vote. Throughout the war buildup the question was raised enough times (even by Freepertypes) about WHY we were focusing on MAYBE nukes in Iraq and ignoring REAL nukes that COULD reach the US in NKorea. The story didn't die down until the final push for the war before the UN Security council (early-mid winter).

If real problems were to occur in North Korea - those earlier questions - and the WH public face and excuses for WHY they were dealing with these issues differently - have already been planted in the public's mind. Wouldn't take a big media push (as it has with the current Uranium story) to get it into the public's psyche.

This would call into question all of the bushies claims that they have made the US "More Secure".

Complete disaster for Bush. End of his presidency sortof disaster. Silly Freepers if they are hoping for this scenario.

And as much as I would like to see this administration collapse, I am MORE afraid (and have been) of what North Korea and its not so stable leader. THus - no hopes on my plate that anything more threatening than it already is happens on that front. The consequences to our country and the world could be so devastating I can't even attempt to contemplate it.

10. Actually, I think it would have the opposite effect.
It, combined with the quagmires in Iraq and Afghanistan, would illustrate just how piss-poor a job this administration has done with regards to foreign policy.

Believe me, these guys DO NOT want a NK 'Missiles of October.'

11. The N.Korean story will never be understood
...unless we get involved in a war there. The administration has been carrying out a campaign of breaches of promise, lies and deceit concerning N.Korea as Machiavellian and egregious as that in Iraq.

If N.Korea collapses as millions starve there, the neocons will claim victory and all will be well (for them). If war breaks out they will blame it on N.Korea. However, if and when the body bags come home, it will be blamed on the neocons, and the breaches, lies, miscalculations and misdeeds will be aired and examined in detail. Now relatively few souls even concern themselves with what is really happening over there.

The only reason the lie in the SOTU is becoming an issue, why no WMD in Iraq is becoming a national issue here is because the stated political goals of the Iraqi invasion are not being met, i.e. the war is a failure and Americans are still getting killed.

Nothing succeeds like success, nothing fails like a military failure.
