If nothing were to change....
And the country were to stay on the same track with taxcuts, spending, wars, more taxcuts, cuts in social spending, etc, how long could our nation hold on? Five years? Ten Years? Forever? Are we indestructible? If nothing were to change, how long would the American people put up with this bullshit? Are we like the frog in the pot of water and we just sit there as the heat is turned up and it boils our ass?

3. I think we're on the brink right now
Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 10:22 PM by BattyDem

It's all war, all the time and there's no money for anything else. Jobs are being exported, prices are going up, healthcare costs are out of control, our Constitution is pretty much meaningless, religious fanatics have declared war on mainstream America and the whole world has turned against us.

I believe we are currently witnessing the fall of the American Empire. How can we survive when everything this country was founded upon - everything it ever stood for - has been dismantled. I'm afraid for our future. :-(

4. I Second That
I have been saying, for quite some time now...we likely will, at some point during my lifetime...see Civil War in the United States again.

Except, this time...it won't be a nice, neat North versus South. It'll be a hundred different factions all fighting each other over the rancid bits of what is left of a once-great nation.

We are more politicized and polarized than we have ever been. We cannot tolerate other points of view anymore. We are WAY too easily offended...especially by viewpoints that do not exactly match our own.

How much more of a push is one group or another going to need, before they go off bezerk, and it all starts? Once it starts, it'll escalate fast, because it will be like mob mentality, and a mental epidemic.

It will spread, fast and furious, and no one will know what the hell hit us!

And a hell of a lot of people are not gonna know WHAT side they are on, when the shit hits the fan.

Within ten years, and probably much sooner than that...is my personal prediction.

The status quo can't hold much longer. I'm getting pissed, and I know damn well I can't be the only one.
