Just sent some feedback to CNN.com
Here's my letter:

Dear CNN.com,

For the past few years, I have been a vociferous reader of your news site. I come here several times a day, and read most of what is posted. However, your recent coverage of the Terri Schiavo controversey and now the coverage of the woman in Georgia has led me to come to one conclusion: you guys are useless.
I'm not saying you're conservative or liberal or anything like that, just that you are now a parody of your former self. Today, instead of covering the 12 soldiers that died today or any other, you know, important event, you chose to focus on a local story that has absolutely no bearing on the rest of the country. Not only that, but you have the nerve to make a poll about it. Whether Jennifer Wilbanks marries the guy or not doesn't matter to me in the slightest. I do, however, care about the war in Iraq or social security reform, things that you, a news station, are supposed to cover.
And don't even get me started on the Terri Schiavo story. If I were in a vegetative state and my picture was plastered all over CNN, I would first like my family to slap Ted Turner before deciding what to do about me.
It's a sad day for the media when the Daily Show, a fake news show by its own admission, has the most credibility of any network on the air.

1. Ted Turner sold CNN several years ago to Time Warner... He doesn't
run the show anymore. And when he did run the show, CNN was a good source for news...

5. It doesn't matter, it was a good communication to him whether Ted is
still there or not. I gave up on them after sending comments to Blitzer and Woodruff and never getting a reply...but glad to read yours. Maybe enough folks have a chance of annoying them by writing them. Whether Ted is still on the Board or not they are still Media Whores. :-)'s

4. What started this trend?
For a long period of years, I did not monitor the news, as I do now.

When did the practice of featuring One Story Only 24/7 for 2 weeks become the trend?

I thought back, um, Sept 11 (no argument there) Florida recount, Elian, OJ, Monica, Waco... and traced it as far back as the Revolt in Tian An Men Square..

I would argue that the recount and Tian An Men, and even Waco to a degree were such rivetting live events that they deserved 24/7 -- and it was exciting television!

But Elian, Monica, Terri, and now Jennifer? Live tabloid news?

It well may be a diversion from things that really matter. But, despite all the blatant propaganda that CNN presents as information -- is the treatment of a single subject 24/7 simply a habit CNN has gotten into, rooted in what it can and has done well, that no one has bothered to carefully examine recently?

Your letter was very good. You said well what they need to hear. My post here certainly echoes your observation that they have become a parody of themselves.
