Outside screwing starts today!
That was my father's favorite saying on this day.
I wonder if he wasn't thinking of Beltane when he started saying that, since Beltane was the day for sexual freedom and children born of unions on this day were known as Beltane children.

I don't celebrate Beltane, but Labor Day. That is also today. Here in Norway, that means the Unions walk in parades and eat nice breakfasts.

eltane or Beltaine (From either Irish Gaelic Bealtaine or Scottish Gaelic Bealtuinn; both from Old Irish Beletene, "bright fire") is an ancient Gaelic holiday celebrated around May 1."Bealtaine" (pronounced IPA /ˈbʲɑlˠ.t̪ˠə.n̪ʲə/) is the name in modern Irish for the month of May. It is also the traditional first day of summer in Ireland. It is a Cross quarter day being midpoint in the Sun's progress between the Vernal Equinox and Summer Solstice. May 5 (Old Beltane) is the precise astronomical date.

Beltane is a Lunar holiday...today is neither the full nor new moon. Beltane was last week. Sorry. :)
