Fighting the Right - The 'Neophyte Agenda'
I plan to make a list of little activities that you can do every day that can damage the legitimacy and the power of the RW.

I have named it the 'Neophyte Agenda'. Stay tuned, I have a lot of compiling to do, and in the end we will have a very powerful tool that will help put America back in the hands of Americans.

2. I am a mature anti-fascist myself, no "neophyte" and our rallying point
is our US Constitution-we are taking back our government piecemeal, most important is to get the truth into awareness, win the information warfare battles against the RW MSM.

But I know there are many neophytes around today that may need direction.

I'm not one of them.

3. An explanation of the name
I am also seasoned, I have been at this for years now. It is good to see an ally.

Several reasons for the name.

1. It will probably confuse some RW'ers
2. Everybody can participate in the Agenda, even a Neophyte

4. This could be very powerful.
I organize a couple of progressive meetup groups and I would love to have a good organized list to give to, and discuss with, members. If nothing else, doing little things daily will keep people motivated and focused. I'm looking forward to your list.
May I suggest that, while you are compiling, you post any partial lists you currently have? It would give us all some things to do while we're waiting for the complete compilation.

5. A draft of the Neophyte Agenda.
* Build up Friendships with Religious/Spiritual people. It doen't matter what the religion of a person is. Join up and connect with mainstream and Liberal religious groups.

* Find ways to tell the people that Far Right Religion is dangerous.

* Tell people about Christian Reconstructionism, Dominionism, the leaders of these movements, and what the goals of these movements are.

* Proclaim that people in the 'christian' Right are not Christian. For example, in a discussion board call them Fake Christians.

* Expose the Hatred of the people in the Far Right and the 'christian' Right.

* Use humor. Satire of fundamentalist beliefs will work better than direct attacks. Make or tell a joke about the 'christian' Right.

* Call the Actions of the 'christian' Rightists and Far Rightists (from this point on both parties will be referred to as RW'ers) subversive and deceptive.

* Attack the seamy side of how fundamentalist groups proselytise their followers by creating videos such as "The Gay Agenda" and publishing and selling sensationalistic photos and hate tracts.

* The RW'ers are using falsehoods that many of Hitler's Nazis were homosexual and evil. But the Nazis purged their ranks of homosexuals and sent many to the concentration camps. Turn the
tables on the fundies.

* Support Interfaith Groups.

* We need to oppose the RW contention that "Back to the Bible" will solve all our problems.

* Address the issue that RW'ers wish to change the Constitution to admit prayer in schools and institutionalize Christian "laws". Their beliefs and ideology that the U. S. was a founded as a christian nation is false. They wish to rewrite history. We need to get support to oppose things such as the Constitution 'restoration' Act.

* Address the issue that RW'ers do not support the ideals of the American Founding Fathers. The founders were well aware of the dangers from the fundamentalists types - that is why this country was instituted with a Bill of Rights. We can accuse the fundies of being un-American. We support religious freedom. They do not.

* Support people with AIDS. The RW'ers lack of compassion and judgemental position concerning AIDS is a cause for its spread throughout the population. Promote the dissemination of sexual information and condoms.

* Support Women. RW'ers want to put women back under the domination of men and keep them at home, abrogating the rights of women. This is simply a white male, protestant power play, first for control of the family and, ultimately, society. Every time a woman becomes empowered in any way it will become a wound inflicted upon the RW.

* Children. The Nuclear Family can be very dysfunctional. Hillary Clinton spoke about extended families, look at Chelsea and what a great woman she is. Now look at the Bush Twins and their Criminal Records.

* A philosophical position to take on gay mariage is that no one has the moral right to deny us or to decide whether gay people can marry or not. We need to make clear that any beliefs denying rights to free expression are evil.

* We need to plan political attacks against the right, whether frivilous or not, that they must fight by using their money and precious time. We can deflect their strategy against us. A good way to fight them is to tie them up in litigation.

* Many RW'ers are afraid to meet with us and engage in dialogue. Exploit this reticence. We should challenge the RW'ers to face and debate with us. If they will not, then that is useful in a media campaign.

* Taxes. Certain groups should not be involved too deeply involved with politics. The 'christian' Coalition had the appearance of being too pro-Republican and they lost their tax exemption. We need to use this tactic and petition the groups that use this today and have tax exemption lose it.

* We need to set up stronger computer networks for sharing information. More DU's.

* We should organize a campaign to buy small radio stations in some major markets.

* We need to create mass-mailing organizations and PACs, modeled after right wing organizations, to solicit for broad-based human rights and issues.

* We need to create think tanks.

* We need to learn how to manipulate the media as well as does the right wing.

* Make a Blog

* Start an Internet group

* Keep pushing into the public consciousness that the right-wing's arguments are not based on reason.

* Just say "No" to 'Moral Values'. Bring back real politics.

* Work toward laws making censorship (for adults) unconstitutional.

* Push for a constitutional right to privacy, otherwise strengthen state laws concerning individual privacy.

* The social restrictions that RW legislation would impose could hurt the economy. The more the RW gains in power the worse the economy, because freedom for all people to act, make choices, buy, sell as they see fit is restricted.

* Because of right wing fundamentalist censorship, our nation's textbooks have suffered a bowdlerization, especially science textbooks - they are abysmal. No wonder our nation ranks low in science education. And they are restricting public access to knowledge by banning books from public libraries. Thus the
fundamentalists are creating an ignorant populace, hurting our ability to lead and compete in world markets. They want an ignorant, fearful populace that can be easily ruled. We need to campaign for free thought and exposure to all ideas in the public secondary schools.

* Attack the credibility of (tel)evangelists. It is well-proven than many have been charlatans and criminals, exploiting their followers in pursuit of political power and wealth.

* Outing: There probably are many closeted gays in the conservative ranks whose fear and loathing of themselves and fear of being exposed and losing respect of colleagues, job, and positions of influence make them enemies. Any closeted gay person in a position of political influence against the gay movement deserves to be outed. It is a fair tactic.

* GLBT people. Come out of the closet ASAP. If you are afraid of doing so in the 'real' world then do it on the Internet. We need to do everything to make our numbers as big as possible.

* Concerning elected judgeships by whom anti-gay issues might be decided, a study of their records of past decisions should be published to influence re-election.

* We must learn to have a respect for religion. It exists, and has a place in society. Many of our own people are devoutly religious.

* Infighting. Various Christian groups have banded together in common cause to oppose gay rights, abortion, many freedoms, but their views differ greatly in many other respects. We can cause them to fight each other over their fundamental differences.

* Entrap and expose RW criminals.

* Create an organization specifically for fighting the Right Wing.

* Bigot Busters in Washington State is a good example of how to fight fundamentalist led initiatives by disseminating the truth and causing citizens to question the reasons for such initiatives.

* Solicit gay-supportive Christians to witness for us. Mel White is a good
example.

* The RW uses recently refuted, false statistics that gays are a financially advantaged minority. Debunk these claims and the claims that gays have a medical condition.

* They call us a militant minority. They are the militant minority. Every chance we get we must call attention to these dangerous militants in the media.

* We must grow beyond our political correctness and old leftist ideologies because they are as doctrinaire and dysfunctional as RW beliefs.

* Some RW'ers are accusing all liberals and Democrats of having no morals. We can make much of this patently ridiculous attitude. Different sets of moral values are not a total lack of morals. Study philosophy and debating tactics to learn the art of rational argument to use against them.

* RW'ers accuse us and other groups of being elitists. This has become a Republican ploy against Democrats. And the televangelists who control this movement are very wealthy elites. The fundamentalists usually support a rabid capitalism which bases God's approval on those He makes wealthy. This causes
them to disapprove of the poor and disadvantaged. They are also defensive, militaristic and isolationist. They want to be a chosen people. This is elitism in its most irresponsible form. Everywhere you go tell people that 'christians' such as Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, etc. are extremely wealthy.

* We must move Left. But, at the same time we must foster alliances with those in the middle and those sane people in the Right.

* If fundies wish to discriminate against us, then we can do the same against them. Should we call for discriminatory laws against fundamentalists, limiting their right to adoption, employment, housing, etc.? Probably not, but we can privately discriminate against them and make it widely known that we will discriminate
against them.

* We must work more at the grassroots level in our local communities and states rather than expecting to succeed on a federal level.

* Write your Representatives and Senators on a regular basis. It does not matter whether you voted for them or not, or whether they are in a different party. They represent YOU, not a Party.

* If RW'ers succeed in passing restrictive laws on us, forcing many of us back into the closets or into jails and concentrations camps, then we must be ready to declare real war. Who among us is ready to violently defend ourselves when they come for us? Or to create and join underground, subversive organizations dedicated to the overthrow of a fundamentalist government? If they are ready to kill us, then we must be ready to kill them. But they must fire the first shot. It is they who are forcing the issue of our survival. Not we, theirs. This is an issue we must face now.

7. An impressive and comprehensive agenda!!!
Delegation of the ideas on that agenda would be appropriate. We would be much more effective if groups of us concentrate on parts of the whole agenda.

8. Yes.
What I think we should do is do whatever we feel is right when it comes to the 'agenda'.

but I disagree with one thing on it.

If fundies wish to discriminate against us, then we can do the same against them. Should we call for discriminatory laws against fundamentalists, limiting their right to adoption, employment, housing, etc.? Probably not, but we can privately discriminate against them and make it widely known that we will discriminate against them.

One of the things they've been doing is decrying discrimination against Christians and claiming they're being attacked. They use these claims to fight things such as rulings against things like prayer in schools, the teaching of creationism, the ten commandments on government property, etc. They are using it now in their fight against the judiciary. The recent so-called "Justice Sunday" is an example.

Of course the truth is that there is almost no discrimination against Christians in this country. These claims are, like so much of what they do, a rhetorical trick. They are an attempt to frame the church/state debate as an attack on Christians.

Openly and loudly discriminating against them (and calling it that) will simply lend credibility to their false claims. It may actually help them in what they are trying to do.

If you want to personally avoid, for example, doing business with fundies you should absolutely do so. I'll be doing the same. But don't publicly frame it as discriminating against fundamentalist Christians. Instead, lump them in with other "red" businesses and state it as a boycott against businesses that support right wing extremist causes. Call it a boycot. Do NOT use the words like "discriminate" or "discrimination! So then you're boycotting supporters of conservative causes rather than discriminating against religious fundamentalists.

I understand your anger at these people. We need to fight them, but we need to fight smart. They have been perfecting their rhetoric and arguments for decades and have purposely been setting rhetorical minefields for us to trip. We need to be very careful not to trip them.
