The Environmental Movement...Are you like me?
Prior to the year 2000, I was not very political. I was always a liberal and voted that way, but the only "issues" I really got involved with were environmental ones.

I keep hearing people say the environmental movement is dead. I've seen articles saying so, and I hear George Lakoff is working to help give it a new face.

The thing is, I don't believe there's a single soul out there who once cared about the environment and doesn't anymore. If they are like me, the events since the year 2000 have shown them that the environmental problem is systemic (along with all our other problems.) I care deeply about the environment and still send 20 bucks now and then, but I only have so much money I can give to causes. The money I once sent to the Sierra Club, the NRDC and such now mostly goes to Move On and Common Cause, etc. It seems like a shame, but if we don't defeat the neocon movement, the environment is toast anyway.

1. If we don't defeat the Neocons, the environment is a lost cause.
You are absolutely right.

4. I agree it has actually increased, only the newcomers are not as
"activist"- they just put their head down and work on local projects. I really see this since I am involved with environmental cleanup.

5. I'm actually more "environmental" than I used to be

I don't have as much money to send, but I am walking the walk more than ever when it comes to conserving energy, eating organically, etc.

I'm wondering why I keep hearing people saying "the environmental movement is dead." I just thought maybe they weren't getting as many donations and figured people weren't as interested or something.

.....The Environmental Agenda (Like Al Gore Did During The Clinton Administration). The Current Administration Is So Anti-Environment That It Gives The Appearance That Nobody Cares As Much As They Used To Care. I Think That Those That Care About The Environment Care Now, More Than Ever, But Until This Evil And Destructive Administration And Congress Are Replaced, Environmentalists Must Continue Their Work, Even If It Is Not Getting Attention. Environmentalists Will Have Their Day Again, Especially After The Fallout From This Administration's Recklessness Is Realized (ie.mercury)
