As much as I hate Republicans, a moderate Republican at this time...
would look downright comforting. The unpredictability of the future is in full bloom with the Bush and the radicals in power. I cannot understand the comfort level exhibited by his supporters. It is either fake or they are in some really deep denial. Anybody that is not at least a bit concerned about the direction we are going is a frigging traitor, in my opinion.

1. I've said for a long time, I'd love to have a REAL conservative in office,
Someone who believes in conserving human life, conserving our money, conserving natural resources, conserving the environment and conserving our nation's founding ideals.

To call Bush and the neocons "conservative" is an insult to the English language.

2. Yep.
There are all types of conservatives. A fiscal conservative would not consider the current administration's economic policies sane. A foreign policy conservative would not consider the Iraqi policy wise. The administration is not conservative in any sense; they are radical in the ugly and destructive sense.

5. There is only one aspect of their agenda that is "conservative"...
...and that is conserving a set of outdated morals for the sole purpose of dividing people and stirring animosity.

They "conserve" the worst America has to offer. They aren't interested in conserving anything else.

it seems like they're a rare species now. We should have a watch list.
My ex-mayor was a real republican but now I read that he's having some guy from the SBVT campaign's come onto his and that's really sad.

4. I know what you mean. The newest repuke always make the
last one not look so bad. They are always able to out do themselves!

6. The repuke party made a HUGE mistake when they didn't
nominate McCain in 2000. Huge. I think he would have been fairly popular and really hard to beat.

Whereas this guy, they've got to cheat and lie their asses off just to get him in and to keep him there.

And look at the poll numbers--pathetic.

Plus bush and the neocons are bringing about a backlash the likes of which no one's ever seen.

11. Speaking of 2000
I remember reading a lot of people in the primaries only voted for Bush because of his last name. A lot of them didn't even know who the hell he was! Go figure. McCain should've fought harder for the nomination. Maybe things would be different now whether with him or Al Gore. I doubt McCain would've stopped the recounting and did all that bullshit.

9. The only problem is
the so called "moderate Republicans" you speak of have voted in lockstep with the murderer for 4+ years.

They are the enemy just as much as * is, imo. They enable him.
That goes for Vichy-democrats like Lieberman also, btw.

12. Yep
I've noticed a lot of the republicans now days lack courage. They know if they go against dear leader Karl Rove will be on their asses and kicked out of the public life as a politician. They lack spine and courage to stand up to them.

13. Is there a moderate Republican in the House? (Pun intended)
I soooo agree with you, it would be comforting to see such a creature. I often feel like I fell down the rabbit hole on Jan 20, 2001 & they covered up the opening after me... now I'm just running around in this insane maze where up is down, black is white, FOX is called 'news', the evil Queen of Hearts gave birth to the emperor and, you guessed it...

Meanwhile the evil Queen's army of playing cards is viciously toying with me as a cat would a mouse before killing it.
