Poll question: Why Haven't We Caught Osama bin Laden?
You know, the guy who supposedly murdered three thousand Americans over three and a half years ago.

What kind of message does it send to terrorists and to the world that we appear not to be interested in bringing him to justice?

So Exactly Why Haven't We Caught Osama bin Laden?

19. Maybe.
Or maybe they're protecting him because they're sympathetic to his Islamist/US-out vision. But then I'm not convinced by MIHOP/LIHOP.

23. I think if we REALLY wanted bin Laden, they would hand him over.
Particularly since they are our great "allies".

The fact is that our government does not seem partciularly interested in getting him-- sure some people say they want him, but Bush/Cheney sure are not interested, and CIA honcho Buzzy Krongard says it is better to leave him alone.

28. Musharraf serves at the whim of the Pakistani military
Which is full of high-level Islamists and bin Laden supporters. He has infinitely more to fear from them than from Bush.

24. Sorry, I guess that would be a different option, but really, if the
US is specifically not after him, then we're saving him for another attack.

I personally doubt very much Bush made a "deal" with OBL not to capture him.

26. Of course there are other options--
5) Bush/the powers that be doesn't want to get Osama because then people would think the war on terror is over and Bush/the powers that be need it to keep going until we've invaded all the major oil-rich countries
6) Bush/the powers that be made a deal with Osama not to capture him
7) Bush/the powers that be don't think he's that important (and thus he probably wasn't the mastermind behind 9/11)
8) Pakistan really doesn't want OBL captured because it would be too destabilizing for Musharref and thus we've decided we don't want OBL that much
9) any combination of the ones in the poll and the ones here
