Jack Cafferty, an anchor on CNN Live, just ragged on the Corporate Media
LOL, it was too funny. After discussing the Wilbanks story AGAIN (the missing bride with the bulging eyes) with his co-anchors, Cafferty lightheartedly expressed his disgust with the corporate media. Among what he said, and I'm paraphrasing here from memory:

"We really do go way too far with some of these (ridiculous) stories. Am I the only one who's ever willing to get in the face of corporate media?" And so on...he pretty much ridiculed the way media wastes so much time on the silly stuff. He'll probably take shit for it later from his bosses.

When I heard him utter the words corporate and media, I was thinking to myself, well maybe Jack has been glancing at DU. Go Jack!

1. He's an ass, paid to rant.
CNN's own little Howard Beale. Ain't he cute?

Last week, he railed about NYC cab drivers and how dangerous they are. But he made no mention of his pleading guilty to hitting a bike messenger and dragging his bike for a block as he ran away from the scene.

They probably all had a good laugh about his 'rant against corporatemedia' during the break.

4. What does that have to do with the message here??
Would you be happier if Cafferty kissed Corporate Media's ass instead?

Cafferty's hypocritical nonsense is the kind of thing that sparks cognitive dissonance. He IS the corporate media. He's a demented old man dragged out for shock value, and he doesn't even know it.

He called Air America a "communist" radio station. When rebuked by one of the other CNN cast members, he replied, "isn't it?" with a knowing grin.

The only thing that will come of this guy railing against the corporate media is that conservative sheep will somehow think the corporate media is liberal. At least if he owned up to what he was, we could be the ones exchanging knowing glances about the corporate media, as if it were conventional wisdom. This is just more reality-splitting from the dark overlords.

7. Very, Very Well Put
I call it plausible deniability.

CNNservative is looking for ways to answer the flood of phone calls and research from over the weekend that had to had shown a large flood of negative reaction to their overdoing this non-story. So someone scripts a Cafferty to trial balloon the taking a shot at the network and see how it sticks. If it goes over good, management will consider this matter under control.

My hopes are the last word on this non-story will be covered tonight by Jon Stewart.

I wasn't aware that he called Air America communist once. Fuck him for doing that.

18. Jack "Bike Crusher" Cafferty
He helps them connect with the crotchity hypocrit demo.

According to the criminal complaint, Cafferty was driving a Cadillac with a New Jersey Press license plate on Ninth Avenue near 42nd Street May 14th when he allegedly made an abrupt turn and hit bicyclist Billy Maldonado.

About five people tried to stop Cafferty by running after the car, waving their arms and yelling, "Hey Stop," according to the complaint, but the newsman allegedly continued through at least two red lights, while dragging the bicycle underneath the vehicle.

I'm not surprised, nor will I be surprised when he's bitching about "whiny liberals" tomorrow.

9. But he was right on this one.
He was disgusted that the corpMedia spent all this time on a selfish white girl while this country is going in the shitter, and our soldiers are dying.

14. The corporate media's fixation on silly stories isn't the problem, Jack.
It's their complete lack of interest in *real news* that's the problem.

15. C'mon, Cafferty's right!
And so what if he has all the credibility of DeLay railing against fatcat lobbyists buying congress critters?

But I'm sure to establish his bona fides, Cafferty will be resigning his six-figure a year gig with CNN any minute now. Right?

16. What I don't understand is why do we watch CNN--or any of the C O N s?
(Corporate Owned Networks)

Does anyone expect they'll ever get anything from C O N other than marketing and brainwashing that reinforces THEIR MARKET DOMINANCE in our lives? So one ass-hole pundit, a total whore from what I've read above, gripes about the corporate news focus--so what!

I stopped watching broadcast TV after the selection of 2000--completely stopped. Not only do I not watch so called "news" or "talking heads" shows, I don't watch it for entertainment either. I keep myself plenty informed by reading news on-line, especially here at DU. I entertain myself by renting from netflix--and making my own video content.

I know it is difficult, very socially compelling, like an addiction, but we must learn to do without any hope of ever getting anything approcahing a real picture of our world from C O N. It isn't going to happen EVER--any more than war will ever end so long as some men can profit from it. Any real solution is going to have to come from us, not corporations, not government, not military--from you and I working together to change our habits of living and thinking and feeling, buying and selling.

Turn off the TV--or if you must watch it, rent a movie. However you do it, take control of your own media input. Consider it a blow against the empire of social mind control.

I'm sure CNN got a lot of negative feedback for their 24/7 coverage.
He was probably instructed to razz them a bit just to blunt the criticism. He's still a cynical ass.
