Anyone notice the recent poll numbers for Bush...
The first chart shows overall job approval for Bush as President...

The second shows job approval for individual items...

-------------------------------------------

What's most interesting to me is how much higher Bush's overall job approval numbers compare to individual items. I was initially surprised by the economy numbers, and not so much by the foreign affairs numbers. I expected the economy numbers to be farther apart.

I think what we are seeing are numbers that reflect voter forgiveness. Remember, it was only six months ago that have of the country voted for this clown. I really think that many don't want to admit that they made the wrong choice. I think this is what you see in the overall approval chart. When asked about individual performance on specific issues Bush bombs, but when asked about overall performance he scores okay. As he continues down this road of bad ideas, illegal wars, and poor economy, these people will eventually start to turn and the numbers will grow apart even farther.

At this point, he is one bad move away from being in the 30% overall approval numbers.

3. And the pathetic part is that
Bush will NEVER know. His minions will keep this information from him and he'll go along on his merry little way thinking all is right with the world.

6. Reminds me of his last press conference
..when he said "I'm sure some people don't like me" in such an oblivious way as to show how he doesn't realize half the country dislikes him. If he's so out of touch with the people how can he presume to govern them?

4. That 48 percent of people...
say they approve of his overall job performance blows my mind. What more does he have to fuck up to get those naive ones to see the light? I think some people will say they approve of his overall job performance, even though they don't approve of his handling of most issues - bizarre pretzel logic!

:argh:

5. It's like that when they do it for taxes also
Overall do you think taxes are too high gets a high response for yes and then when you ask to itemize where you want cuts, no one wants to cut much.

7. But how do we manage the 2006 midterms?
I am sure those GOP f**kheads are dreaming up some divisive issue to smash us with in a coordinated media campaign.

2002 WMD and Terrorists in Iraq
2004 9/11, terror + fundamentalist-bait gay marriage issue
2006 ?

8. Seems very strange to me. 48% approval overall, but looking at
the issues listed, the best approval number is 45%, with several much lower.

perhaps there were more items that were polled individually than shown here.

11. Could be, I just have trouble figuring what issues there are that
he would be getting a higher approval on. I suppose there are folks who admire him since he is a "godly man", and that probably trumps all other issues.

That's why the overall approval rating stays above ALL the issue and performance ratings.

It's Bush's sucess at become the mystical father of the nation, above the mere job he is doing for us. I'm sure it's somewhere on the symptoms of the protofascist state.

15. Easy explanation.
They ask individual questions about Iraq, economy, etc, but there is also a general questions about your "overall support" for the prez. People show their true colors during the individual questions, but the overall questions they go back to toe-ing their party line.
