I am ignorant on this matter--please help
Weren't all these judicial nominees blocked during *'s last term?
If so, since they weren't filibustered, they were voted on--correct?
So what is all this drama that these judicial nominees deserve a vote--when they have already received one? It was a big fat "NO".
Someone set me straight please.

1. I believe
there was never a vote, that the nominations were withdrawn before the election, then they were renominated. I might be a little wrong on the details, but I'm pretty sure there was never an actual Senate vote.

3. I'm not sure they even got out committee last go round...
Maybe they were voted on and * just re-nominated them. He's a bastard, you know.

4. There was no vote before
"During Bush's first term, Democrats did not allow a vote on 10 of the 52 appeals court nominations that reached the Senate floor. As a result, conservative groups have been putting increasing pressure on Senate Republicans to force votes on Bush's judicial nominees. "

Of course, it should be noted that under Clinton, the republicans claimed they were blocking votes because they didn't need any more judges.

"Judge Boyle was an aide to Republican Senator Jesse Helms of North Carolina and, at Senator Helms’ request, was nominated to the Fourth Circuit by President George H.W. Bush. After Judge Boyle's nomination lapsed at the end of 1992 and President Clinton refused to renominate him, Senator Helms blocked confirmation of all North Carolina nominees to the Fourth Circuit, including two eminently respected and capable African American judges, James Wynn and James Beatty. To justify his conduct, Senator Helms often claimed that the court did not need any more judges. He and other Republican Senators changed their tune soon after George W. Bush took office, recommending the nominations of Judge Boyle and others. Despite the Republicans’ actions during the Clinton years, Democrats in the Senate cooperated with the Bush Administration to confirm two of these nominees, Allyson Duncan and Dennis Shedd. The Fourth Circuit currently has nine Republican appointees, four Democratic appointees and two vacancies."

5. 100% of the public dialog on politics in the USA is horseshit, PR drivel.
Not 99%, 100%. It's much easier to understand what is up when
you stop listening and watch what they do. This is all an echo
of the FDR "court packing" bullshit, i.e. a distraction so you
won't notice other things, like the "gay marriage" crap and the
Terri Schiavo circus, and so on.
