full text of Laura Bush (I think) including the horse..
George always says he's delighted to come to these press dinners. Baloney. He's usually in bed by now. I'm not kidding. I said to him the other day, "George, if you really want to end tyranny in the world, you're going to have to stay up later."

Nine o'clock, Mr. Excitement here is sound asleep, and I'm watching "Desperate Housewives" - with Lynne Cheney. Ladies and gentlemen, I AM a desperate housewife. I mean, if those women on that show think they're desperate, they oughta be with George.

It's always very interesting to see how the ranch air invigorates people ... when Vice President Cheney was down, he got up early one morning, he put on his hiking boots and he went on a brisk, 20- to 30-foot walk.

George and I are complete opposites - I'm quiet, he's talkative; I'm introverted, he's extroverted; I can pronounce nuclear ... (LOVE THIS ONE)

People often wonder what my mother-in-law's really like. People think she's a sweet, grandmotherly, Aunt Bea type. She's actually more like, mmm, Don Corleone.

I'm proud of George. He's learned a lot about ranching since that first year when he tried to milk the horse. What's worse, it was a male horse.

George's answer to any problem at the ranch is to cut it down with a chain saw - which I think is why he and Cheney and Rumsfeld get along so well.

I had to hear from every talking head for days about THK saying "shove it" and they had the nerve to call her unladylike and say america wanted a "more traditional first lady" but they are completely silent about these foul jokes?

edit: oops - thought I was responding to the thread comparing the reaction to THK to the non-reaction to Pickles' comments.

In any case - thanks for the full text! I've been hearing stuff all day but never read the whole thing.

8. I don't get it, why did Laura Bush do this?
OK most people here won't be shocked to find out George Bush tried to milk a horse and he's just a city boy and not a cowboy. But what was the point of this stunt, besides a good laugh.

I don't understand how making the president out to be fool will bring him sorrow from the citizens? (Improve his poll ratings???)
Sure it was funny to hear his wife insult him, But when it comes down to it this guy IS supposed to be president. It's one think to laughed at but doesn't HE want to be respected?

What's the secret plan?

9. I think it was to make women feel "at home" with Laura.
They are trying to improve *'s image and get his polls up by appealing to women who like to make fun of their husbands. That's why she mentioned "Desperate Housewives". And did you see on TV there was a clip of * with an older woman who used the line on him? Oh, it was good for gales of laughter from * and his dopey crowd.
