It's scary to think that Bush and his buddies are revered by the Focus on the Family crowd... really scary.
Here's the latest, as reported by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force:
A new report released today by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute titled, A Report from "Love Won Out: Addressing, Understanding, and Preventing Homosexuality," provides a first-hand account of an anti-gay conference that took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota in September 2004. The report's authors, Jyl J. Josephson, an Associate Professor at Rutgers University-Newark, and Cynthia Burack, an Associate Professor at Ohio State University, detail the theories and world views espoused by the presenters and "ex-gay" leaders who spoke at the conference, one of at least four such conferences sponsored annually by Focus on the Family around the country.
According to the report (PDF), the "ex-gay movement" started in the early 1970s, but the recent "Love Won Out" movement started in the late 1990s.
The Love Won Out (caution, barf-inducing) website has details about some of their "ex-gays" and their resident psychologists.
The report mentions the following:
Speakers
frequently compared gay rights activists to Nazis, warning that the success of the gay rights movement would lead to Nazism or totalitarianism.
Huh? What planet do these idiots live on?
Here's a hint: you can search by keyword on the Free Republic, and one of their keywords is "Homosexual Agenda".
The next "Love Won Out" conference is in Seattle on June 25, 2005. Please give them a very warm welcome. If I'm in town, I'll help."
