Not one but two anti-Dem rants on national sports radio today.
First this morning on Fox Sports (yeah, why am I not surprised). This guy brings up some allegation that John Kerry used campaign funds to pay parking fines and for Red Sox tickets. Not sure where the hell this story came from, but I certainly haven't heard it yet.

Anyhow, he finishes the rant with something like, "It's a real disgrace what this guy has done."

Later in the day on the syndicated Jim Rome show, Rome went on like a ten minute tirade about Howard Dean and replayed the "Dean Scream" speech about ten times.

In typical Rome fashion, he rants (paraphrasing):

"Yeah, that's who I want running the country...a complete psychopath. 'What about the deficit?' YEAAAAGH! 'What about terrorism?' YEAAAAGH! Maybe that's why he's in stuck in Vermont right now doing nothing instead of sitting in the White House."

Aside from the fact that Rome is obviously ignorant as to who is currently running the Democratic party, I find this kind of crap to be really frustrating. I watch and listen to sports to GET AWAY from the politics for a few minutes, and now these clowns aren't even letting me have that.

1. I love Rome, but....
Who's his employer again? Clear Channel?

Disappointing, but unsurprising.

Rome tears everybody up. I listen to his show a lot (where I live its him or Rush,) and he give it to Bush too. He mentiones the lack of WMD's quite a lot.

As for Rome, he does sound like a flaming idiot; I hope he's at least adequate to 'do' sports. :eyes:

5. I don't get Jim Rome
I've listened to his radio show for about 10 years, and he's definitely an ignorant asshole when it comes to politics. However, on more than one occasion he's hinted that he'd like to move into political talk radio (although I haven't heard it from him in several years). Personally, I think he finds himself hilarious, so he uses his decade old, dried out wit to humor the jungle clones, who seem to have the IQ's of table lamps so are probably freepers anyway.

8. Typical
Sports talk radio is loaded with fat Rush-types who never got laid, never got to be cool and never played the game. I hear RW crap dribbling through sports talk all the time. Funny, Rome used to sound a bit to the left, but they're all jock-sniffs at heart and will fellate any athlete bringing home a check. And if you REALLY know sports, you know most of the sports talk shits are really bad at their jobs.

Problem is, these days in the media, the emptiest heads get the biggest gigs.

9. What did Rome say about Bush's Ranger stadium fiasco?
If he's that worked up about a rumor of Red Sox tickets being paid for by private donations, he must be FURIOUS about taxpayers paying almost $200 million for Bush's stadium, when the Rangers didn't even pay half that - not to mention getting a 13 acre neighborhood flattened and forcing people out of their homes to build it.

10. Jim Rome is a fucking douchebag.
For a guy who's supposed to be sports-savvy, he spends a bit too much time ragging on the most popular sport in the world.

As far as the Dean thing goes, he's just looking for an outlet to vent frustration because his precious little Lakers didn't make the playoffs.

11. Yeah, Rome can be an idiot, but
when the Iraq Debacle started, there was a womens' collegiate basketball player who refused to face the flag during the national anthem as her protest against the war. Plenty of sports talking heads jumped on her, but Rome was one of the few that defended her. Nobody's perfect.

13. he's unbelievably strong against homophobes
every sports figure who's blasted homosexuals he's blasted them twice as hard about their ignorance, and he's smacked down the government when the whole Tillman conspiracy went down.

16. It's fear.
It is normal. Take their fear, and turn it into your strength.

Not to get all "use the force" on you or anything.

18. i wasn't too thrilled about rome doing the dean scream over and over..
but at the end of his show he did read an email that touched on the record deficits, gas prices, unemployment, Iraq, etc.

The thing I was most upset about was the stupid email he read about talking out the side of your mouth signed by Kerry and Hillary. It was stupid and made no sense. After that it was 10 minutes of Howard Dean.
