Enough pebbles will raise the sea: AAR on the air in Columbia, SC
I am SOOOOOOOOO happy. Columbia is a liberal town in a rabidly conservative state. Sort of like a small Austin but with a fort. Radio is a ClearChannel-controlled nightmare: Savage, O'Reilly, Hannity, sure, but other guys that make them look left-wing by comparison. This is sooooo overdue. I feel like I can finally breathe.

(Oh, it's on 1230 AM if you happen to be here or might be passing through.)

1. How cool! I thought it wasn't going to happen!
Maybe I can get reception from NE GA. Air Atlanta reception stinks. At night, I get 1530 AM from Ohio better than Air Atlanta.

:woohoo:

2. I wish you luck on that, but I think their range is only about 25 miles
Still, it's possible. (You'd think Asheville would get AAR before us, but I don't know if you could pick up Asheville either what with all those mountains.)

7. You can pick up Asheville near the GA/NC state line.
I listened to AAR radio in Asheville when I was there last summer.

I live about 20 miles on the north side of the line and I can't get it... I have to pick up Air Atlanta in the morning and at night.

14. I got reception with lots of static.
Who knows. It could've been a fluke of weather or something.

Air Atlanta comes in much better north of Atlanta than east.

21. As noted elsewhere, there's Asheville
but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for liberal radio in the Upstate.

12. Wouldn't that be a great letter to a station manager though?
"Even bass-ackwards SOUTH CAROLINA has AAR and we don't! What's wrong with you people?"

On the other hand, it's probably easier for us to drop ESPN Radio than it would be up there nearer Bristol U. And I like to think that your local talk radio hosts aren't nitwit Bush apologists like here, either, but I guess it's possible.

15. we have one pair of left of center radio guys...
Colin McEnroe & Bruce Stevens on WTIC AM 1080 are left of center, but certainly no Randi Rhodes or Mike Malloy. And, they get maybe 15 minutes of airtime per hour, as it's news, traffic and weather first.

Meanwhile, we have libertarian conservative Ray Dunaway on in the morning (similar to the afternoon guys in that it's mostly news, traffic & weather)... but, he has 4 1/2 hours vs 3 for the afternoon guys.

Then, they have extreme RW Jim Vicevich from 10-12 and Rush from noon-3.

So, it's not exactly brimming with left wing talk.

22. Nope. Driving into Burlington on I-85, you can start to get it
But west of Burlington, no way. I'm in Winston-Salem/Greensboro area.

However, just after dusk 'til just before dawn, I can pick up WCKY/1530 Cincinnati.

13. This will be the first time that I will take down the names of advertisers
and write them a note thanking them for supporting such programming. Cuz god knows there's going to be a BRING BACK ESPN campaign, not to mention a GET RIDDA DEM LIBRULS campaign.

17. Does that twit named Kevin still follow Limbaugh at 3 O' clock ?
It's been over three years since I lived there, but I have some hilarious recordings of calls I made to him and his occasional sub Stuart McDonald.

18. I believe the drop in B*** poll numbers is due to the expansion of AAR.
God bless them all. Thank you, AAR, for giving us the truth. We are all indebted to you.
