(For those unfamiliar with the magazine - I'd never heard of it until I received a subscription from friends for my birthday - it's a monthly magazine filled with arcane information presented in an intelligent, funny, highly sarcastic way. The best comparison I have is the now sadly defunct Spy magazine).
I received the new issue today, and on the cover were the usual suspects: the 10 most forgettable presidents, 10 films history buffs hate, 10 famous monkeys in science, 10 Latin phrases you pretend to understand, etc. I flipped to the 10 most forgettable presidents story and immediately noticed yellow highlighting on one of the pages, something they often do when they're being particularly snarky.
The highlighted sentence was contained in the entry for John Tyler, and reads as follows: "Let's put it this way. When your nicknames include 'His Accidency', you're not destined to make a splash." In the margin next to this sentence is a large yellow asterisk and an arrow pointing to the sentence.
Most people would have no idea what that reference was, but I'm sure all of us here do. I find it amusing that the universal symbol for Bush is gaining wide currency.
If you ever get a chance to pick up a copy of this magazine, try and do so. Very entertaining (and you'll learn something along the way - they usually highlight a great work of art, music or literature each month and offer some often unknown and fascinating details about it).
