Holy shit, Bush leads Kerry by only 8%.

I just can not believe how fast Bush's popularity is falling. It's only now starting to sink in. Last night I watched one of those Cable News shows and there was a republican on there talking about how the "democrats are manufacturing a scandal." There was a desperation in her eye which I found weird. Then today, i've been reading all these threads about Bush's falling popularity. So I checked with pollingreport.com to see the numbers for myself. And I was shocked. Three separate polls have Bush in the 54% to 57% range. But not just that. His DISAPPROVAL numbers have soared. They're about 40% steady across the board.

One poll had his reelection numbers: Would reelect Bush 47%; Someone new 46%.

Then there were the match-ups. Kerry did the best. He trailed Bush by 8%: Bush 50% - Kerry 42% - undecided 8%. Next was Gepthardt at 9%; Lieberman and Edwards in the teens; and Howard Dean trailing by 16%, Bush 53% - Dean 37%.

But my god, we're within striking distance. People ARE getting angry at Bush.

Not only that, 72 percent of those polled never heard of the uranium issue! So he's dropping because of the economy, the worsening situation in Iraq and the increasing perception the WH at least exaggerated about the WMDs. Uranium is only part of a larger picture that's getting worse for Bush very fast.

I feel like killing my self (not literal) when I hear that 72% figure.

My loathing of the public apathy grows at times with equal bounds as my loathing of the * junta.

and I can't find the three polls you're talking about. What poll has him at 54 percent? I see a range from 55 to 62.

That is what I meant by the post. I don't mean that I think Bush will win by 8%. I'm saying there can be no doubt that his popularity is falling ---- FAST!!!!!

the only two under 60 are the ABC/Wash. Post and the Newsweek at 59 and 55 percent, respectively. They are the most recent. I don't see any at 54 percent or 57 percent. Are you using another link?

Bush is toast, IMHO. And as I posted in another thread, I think the GOP will turn to Clark in desperation.

That's 75,000 people working for the Democratic candidates.

The undecided number seems to be growing in a lot of the polls. Although the Dem numbers are moving up and the repug numbers are going down, the not voting is getting smaller. The undecided is getting bigger at what appears the repugs expense. He is dropping voters left and right. They are still in the undecided catagory and that means they can be swayed, we still have our work cut out for us. Undecided can still go back to repug. If you notice in all of those polls Dean is only mentioned in the last one and he is 16% behind. He is still getting his word out there and I think that will be one of the biggest vote turners out there. Kerry and Lieberman are already know, they have the name recognition. They have to battle Bush on issues and image. I think Dean has to get his name out there and that will bring his points up a lot, then it will be an issue thing and image with the voters.

And in 2000 Bush led Gore by 17 points and we know who won that one. 8 points is nothing at all.
