wages
Does anyone have any info on "real" wages from the 70s vs. today? I know workers in the 70s actually earned more, in todays dollars, but I am looking for a figure.

I know union members are the only ones keeping pace with inflation. Thanks!

1. Not off the top of my head
But here's a link to AIER's inflation calculator. It goes all the way back to 1913.

For example: $1 in 1975 = $3.57 in 2005

2. Here are a few links
This one discusses the decline in the minimum wage: http://www.policyalmanac.org/economic/archive/minimum_wage02.shtml

Then there's: "Output and wages: For most of the country's first 200 years, Americans grew accustomed to rising incomes. But beginning in the late 1960s, real wages stopped growing, and in the 1980s, they began to fall. Measured in 1977 dollars, private nonsupervisory workers made $189.44 a week in 1969; in 1988, they were down to $167.81 a week," plus more discussion at: http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/1994/03/judis.html

Another good discussion is at: http://www.uswa.org/uswa/program/content/432.php

3. wages lower now than when reaganomics began.. adjusted for inflation;Toss
reaganomics.

not exactly what you were asking for, but it IS the biggest conclusion one can draw from the no's you are planning to look at.

get rid of reaganomics in the voter's mind, and we can fully fund all the dem programs cut since RR the monster crawled into the oval office.
