PHOTOS: Thousands protest Bush in The Netherlands
There was a big demonstration against George W. Bush's visit to The Netherlands on 7 and 8 May, on Saturday 7 May in Amsterdam. The demonstration was headline news at all Dutch TV stations, and there were also many foreign TV crews.

Re: Noise demonstration when Bush arrived at the airport

On Saturdag 7 May, the committee 'Bush in Limburg' organized a peaceful protest: a noise demonstration when Bush arrived in Air Force One at Maastricht-Aachen Airport (Vliegveld Beek).

This demonstration was a continuation of the demonstrations in Maastricht and Amsterdam, also on 7 May.

With this demonstration, they protested within sight of George W. Bush.

17. WONDERFUL!! Oh, my dear Nederlands' friends!!
We were lucky enough to live there as a family in the early 1960's. It made me angry that Bush would stop in Maastricht. I should have know the strongly moral Dutch people would meet him appropriately!

Bless them!

People of the world, unite against the Evil doers!

It is so cool that "Jon Stewart" is on Dutch TV! :-)

20. The difference between...
...the United States and Europe is that in the US roughly 50% of the population think * is a top man.

By contrast, here in Europe (and indeed just about everywhere else in the world) EVERYBODY thinks he is a horrible shitbag.

By my reckoning, you would be lucky to find any country in Europe with an approval rating of him above 5%...and that's being generous.

It really is hard to adequetly convey to Americans just how despised this man is here. He is so bad for your country's image that it would upset you all to know just how deeply felt that hatred is.

Me? I hate him and his gang so much it makes my teeth ache.

21. re: "The difference between...."
I think you would find that Bush's approval rating isn't as high as people think, its just higher amoung those that go out and vote unfortunately. I find it truly sad that voting is taken for granted, you would think we would appreciate it but we don't.

But like I say if you don't vote, don't bitch. I earned my right to bitch by voting against Bush. Maybe after another four years of Bush people that don't vote will get motivated to get their asses to the polls.

22. Thanks. We need to hear that.
It's a bitch not knowing if the rest of the world knows exactly how much of a disaster * is. There is no free press in America anymore, our constitutional rights are being eroded daily, and we are sliding into a theocracy just like the Taliban.

BTW, welcome to DU! :hi:
